TESU Charging for Credit Cards, Eff. 4/5/17
#1
I know this was discussed a bit in other threads, but just found this in my e-mail:

Quote:Student Advisory: New Credit/Debit Card Fee and Policy Change Coming April 5
As of April 5, 2017, students paying tuition and related fees with a credit card or debit card will be subject to a 2.75 percent convenience fee to offset costs from credit card companies that the University has previously absorbed.

Students can avoid these fees by making payments to the University via the following methods:
• Online electronic check
• Paper check or money order sent via U.S. mail
• Cash, check or money order paid in-person
Learn more about convenience fees and how this change may affect you »

Due to associated processing and administrative costs, credit and debit card payments will be accepted online only beginning April 5. Credit or debit card payments by walk-in, phone or mail will no longer be available after April 5.

If you have additional questions about changes in the University's payment policies or convenience fees processing, email the Learner Support Center at LSC@tesu.edu or call (888) 442-8372.

Thanks for the reminder, I checked my emails and it was in my Spam folder!
Now, I just have to "pay" everything before any more fees go up! *sigh*

I love how places try to pass the service charges onto the consumer. Maybe they need to get on the Bitcoin train... no fees.

ALL businesses pass the fees on to consumers - it's just a matter of whether they charge everyone with higher fees, or only the customers that use the service.

Since I am happy to use an electronic check, I'm a happy customer.

Makes sense to me that public colleges wouldn't want to pay extra fees. Retailers pay the fees because if they didn't, customers would go to the store or restaurant next door. Nobody is likely to change schools over the fees.
