Fall 2021 Session 1 -- What is YOURPace?
(09-23-2021, 01:23 PM)k-k-k-katy Wrote: I read this thread bc someone from my study group has been following ashkir's plan for a degree in Leadership so I'm interested to see how everyone is doing.  He just submitted his draft for his 9th class yesterday, obviously he is very driven, the rest of us in the study group (not UMPI students) are mere mortals so of course we're very impressed with his pace but if I remember right ashkir and ss20ts far outpaced that rate in their first term.  Is it UMPI or is it the personalities drawn to this program?

I think it's personalities. UMPIs YourPace program really is "your pace". It has exams, projects, and/or written papers as finals. At the end of the day, who really enjoys doing any of those? It's just a matter of your pursuing your goal. You do what it takes to get it done.

For me personally, I'd say that I get distracted easily which is why the typical college course structure does not appeal to me. I like being in control of my own time. And UMPI lets you do that. Plus UMPI doesn't charge per credit or course. They charge per session which can save a student a lot of money. To me, that's a win/win.

I am about to finish it. This class is an easy A and it does not feel like an UL class at all!
Moreover, if you took Leadership, than you already are familiar with a lot of stuff that BUS 335 covers.

Anybody have an idea on what grade that would be?

That's 87.5%, so looks like a B+.
How do you calculate scores? I got 93% on a multe choice exam and I woould like to convert it. is there a formula?

Don't get hung up on the rubric. You'll receive actual grades after the term ends. The professors have a week to submit grades to the Registrar after the term ends. The rubric doesn't necessarily translate into a specific grade.

Oh, I actually made a mistake. I misread the message and thought there were two 3s and two 4s. There are four 3s instead. Ok, so it's going to be (3*4+2*4)/(6*4) = 0.83(3) = ~83%. That's a B.

Add your scores up.

3 out of 4
3 out of 4
4 out of 4
4 out of 4
4 out of 4
18 out of 20

18/20 = 90%

A+ 97-100% - 4.0
A 93-96% - 4.0
A- 90-92% - 3.7
B+ 87-89% - 3.3
B 83-86% - 3.0
B- 80-82% - 2.27

You can pass with a B-, but a lot of B- can make you fall below UMPI's 3.0 requirement. Multiply all by 4 to get the 12 unit rating on UMPI's yourpace.

Also, that scale is in syllabi! And in introductory info email that Jessica/Cody send to all new students.

Yikes I'm at a B

I know why I got a B. I was so focused on what I was writing that I completely forgot about the format. I wish she would have reminded me on the draft.

Do you think she'll let me fix the format and allow me to resubmit? Is it even worth the hassle?

That's only one class...  at least 9 more to influence your final GPA!
(and there is nothing wrong with getting a B).
