penn foster - algebra, statistics, financial mgt
#1
I did my enrollment with excelsior college this morning and asked an advisor if the following courses with Penn Foster college would apply to business degree - information systems management. They will take the technical math, statistics and financial management as transfers. I thought I would share for those of you who do not want to take these as tests and are looking for a reasonable priced alternative. Here is the email I received so I do have this in writing.Smile

Hello Judy,

It was nice speaking with you this morning!

I have verified the acceptance and classification
of the Penn Foster College courses for which you inquired. The following
courses from Penn Foster will apply towards your Excelsior College Bachelor
of Science in Management Information Systems degree according to the following:

ICS 0134 Practical Algebra (formerly
Technical Math I)-fulfillls the Pre-Calculus Math Core Requirement

Mat 160 Business Statistics-completes
the Statistics Core Requirement

ICS 0152 Financial Management-fulfills
the Financial Management Core Requirement

I hope that you will find this information
helpful. I wish you the best with the above courses as you pursue
your baccalaureate degree!

Please let me know if I can be of further
assistance.

Yes, as I used the discription you sent to me to have the advisor check it for me, the statistics and financial management are from Penn Foster as well. I guess we should thank Shoto for telling us about Penn-Foster cause this does make things a little easier for me.

One interesting note about PFC Tech Math and EC.

If you transfer your PFC math grade to EC for a letter grade you will receive 2 credits, however if you take the pass/fail option you receive 3 credits.

What are the classes like at Penn? How time consuming to complete? I am assuming they require atleast 1 proctored exam? Any other info from anyone who has completed one?

To all who are considering the PFC Tech Math 1 class, there are 7 individual, open book / multiple choice exams (20-25 questions) followed by one proctored (12-15 question) final. I believe there may be some other established threads here too.
