When I was looking up why Juneteenth is called that, I found that some southern states celebrate Confederate Memorial Day as a holiday... Really? Sorry if my Yankee sensibilities offend anyone...

Juneteenth isn't something that so-called "woke" made up recently. It does have a long history.
In June 1980, Juneteenth became an official holiday in Texas. So if you live in Texas you would probably have heard of Juneteenth.

I knew about Juneteenth back in 1989 in CA, so it's definitely not new, nor is it a Texas-only thing.
