Hello all!!
#1
Hi everyone,

Just wanted to give a quick update to my old and new friends here.   First of all, my family moved to South Dakota in search of cheaper education.  Can you believe it???  Trying to find the State U experience for my 18-year-old DD undergrad led us to a place with a lower cost of living and (relatively) reasonable higher ed price.

And my 22 year old DS  is very slowly but surely testing his way out of classes, in between taking B&M classes at community college and some heavy slacking.   But, he's gotten more serious after a trip to Japan that greatly inspired him.   He can't go teach English in Japan without a degree, so now we're working on SL and back on the testing bandwagon with renewed vigor.

I've been great working in int'l business thanks to COSC and the MBA of course, but have moved to consulting and am teaching English a few hours a week online to overseas kids just for fun.   And it is a decent source of income to help cover the extra tuition costs for my DD.   (You can even find schools overseas that will hire you without a degree - all work from home.  Pretty cool stuff for the right person)

So, you'll be seeing me around again and with my son, I am SO out of the loop for testing, I'm sure to have some really basic questions.    Especially since I think DS will end up at TESU.... and I'm a COSC girl!!

Happy New Year and hello to all!

Yes. We now recommend that you move to Wyoming.

LOL, yes Wyoming was under consideration. However, after much research, I determined that it was much easier to get in-state rates with either South or North Dakota, or Arkansas. A deeper look at places I would actually want to live + house prices, cost of living, and other factors resulted in South Dakota.

Edit: I should also mention that DD wanted a university that has a medical school, so this greatly influenced our decision, even though we are well aware that she would not likely end up at the same school for undergrad and medical school. Her reasoning was very sound and we were looking to move anyhow, so it worked out.
