I have a kid starting High School this year too, so I feel your pain. Although my kid is not really thinking about college at this point. I am hoping to convince him to plan HS to include some college credit *in case* he decides to go to college. As a fellow parent and someone who works in a high school, my suggestion is to meet with the guidance counselor. See if your state has a program like we have here in Ohio. We have College Credit Plus. These are classes that are literally at the college (usually) that count for both HS and college credit. My son’s school has both College Credit Plus and AP options. His school actually has an agreement where a teacher is staffed by the HS and college and he teaches the college courses at the high school. I think that with maybe some Sophia courses will go pretty far without being too burdensome. But we will see.
