I randomly came across this ancient post. I had been attending information sessions at various schools back then. I was told that the Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) degree would be required by 2015. That didn't happen. Nurse practitioner (NP) education is currently master's level. Most schools offer a master's degree for aspiring NPs. A few schools require students to enroll in DNP programs and don't have master's level degrees for nurse practitioners.
