How long to prepare for -> Excelsior: Psych. of Adulthood and Aging
#1
Hi there,

Just starting this course. Hoping to be ready to test in a month.
Is using Instantcert enough for preparing to test or do you recommend
using other sources (books) as well.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you in advance for your time.

I'm just going to quote what I said in another thread because I'm being lazy :p
rmroberts Wrote:By God's grace I passed this today! I did not think I studied enough for this one PLUS I got a stomach virus a couple nights ago and I was soo sick until about five hours before my test!

This is what I did to study:
Went over IC flashcards (only twice)
Read chapter summaries in the required textbooks
Read about things mentioned the the free EC studyguide
Reviewed the sample questions in th EC studyguide
PRAYED!!!

I honestly did not know if I was going to pass this one considering the circumstances, but I got an A! I am so thankful! I figured I got a little over 80% based on the print out they gave me. Done with ECEs and only four more tests. Yippie!
I would get one textbook. It would probably be better if it was one of the recommended ones, but not necessary. I usually study two weeks for ECEs but I could only manage one this time and still got an A.

I believe EC has a practice exam and highly recommend their practice exams. They are well worth the $65. You will see the same scenarios used on the actual exam and it helps to shave off time and makes the exam easier. I used Study101 disks as well as a developmental psych book by Berger along with the IC flashcards. This was the easiest EC exam I have done and the most enjoyable. Don't fret it too much if you study. I think doing lifespan developmental psych also helped, so you may want to review that as well. Good luck!
