I have questions about TESC & Political Science Degree. Could someone please help me?
#1
I will be graduating with my Associates in Arts this fall. I have a 4.0 GPA. I work in the legal field now and was seriously considering taking Criminal Justice :ack: because it was the only online program that I could take in my state that was related to law. This really isn't helpful (except that any degree is better than no degree) because I work in civil law and in my particular niche a criminal justice degree is not well respected. Sad

I have been in this field for a number of years now but I really want my B.A. and I want to learn more about TESC.

I see that TESC offers a political science degree. It is not listed under their "online degrees" Thomas Edison State College: Online, accredited degrees that can be completed entirely online but it is listed under "What you can study" Thomas Edison State College: From accounting and criminal justice to nuclear engineering technology and nursing, Thomas Edison State College offers degrees and certificates in more than 100 areas of study. I don't know what this means. Does this mean you cannot get your PoliSci degree entirely online? If not, I don't really understand how you obtain it?

I've scanned some threads here to try and answer this question but some talk about policy changes at TESC related to Poli Sci and some other degrees and I can't figure out how you can test out of the majority of this degree. If you can't, how do you know what courses to take (which they don't seem to offer there). If you have some other suggestions for a program based on my credits below, please let me know.

This is what I've earned so far (82 credits total):

Any advice would be helpful. Also, if this was totally unintelligible please ask me whatever you need to ask me so you can answer my question and I'll reply promptly. Thanks!

I see people posting "plans". I don't know how to do that, unfortunately. If someone could show me where I come up with a plan or how, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
Don't miss out on something great just because it might also be difficult.

A BA in Social Science or Liberal Studies from TESC would be much easier to accomplish than Political Science, due to the number of UL Social Science exams available. Also, are your hours from a community college or a university (or a mix)?

18 credits are from the DLIFLC (Defense Language Institute) in Persian Farsi. Is that considered a community college? 31 credits are from CLEP (see signature) and the remaining 33 are from a local community college. Also, what is UL? Sorry, I don't know all the terms yet. Sad Is that upper level?

Not being one of the online degrees means that you can't complete the degree by just taking online courses at TESC. You will have to find some of the required courses somewhere else.

Okay, here's a go at a BA in Liberal Studies for you, since that would be the most effective use of your credits. I think you could finish in 7 exams, 15 FEMAs, and the Capstone course. I asked about community college credit because the Old Testament class would have been considered upper level (UL) if it had been from a university, but it's no big deal.

Thank you so much. That is awesome and I really appreciate it! Cool

I will definitely look into this. I'm looking up FEMA...Do you mean as in Gov't FEMA? I did not know they had courses for college credit. I'm off to research this...

ETA:

I found this course list: http://www.tesc.edu/degree-completion/do...review.pdf but I'm not really sure what i'm looking at. LOL

How long would you say it would take to complete this? I know it depends on me but I was able to finish my A.A. in one year (from start to finish). Do you think I could do this in a year (or less)?
