I need a 1 credit fine arts course
#1
I finally have my advising worksheet simplified for me. I still need
1. Cornerstone course
2. Capstone course
3. speech course
4. 1 credit of fine arts (other course I had was only 2 credits)
5. 6 upper level credits of my choosing.

So does anybody have any suggestion on how I could meet the 1 credit fine arts requirement easily?

If you have any fine arts skills, you could probably do a Prior Learning Assessment. Or if you have the time take a beginning keyboard class at a local community college.

I'm not sure what COSC would accept, but Penn Foster offers Art Appreciation; Music Appreciation; and Art, Music, and Movement.

Charter Oak's general education requirement is for Literature/Fine Arts. That means and/or: Credit in literature alone will meet the requirement. For instance, the CLEP in Analyzing & Interpreting Literature would meet this requirement.

For another possibility, within those

you have to earn anyway, make part of that, say, one 3 sh course in literature or fine arts.

Charter Oak works differently from some other schools, notably here TESC, in how it applies its general education requirements. Credits can fulfill any other purpose in your degree plan, including being part of your concentration, while also fulfilling a general education requirement. A single course or exam can also fulfill multiple general education requirements.

I misspoke on this part....3 upper level credits of my choosing. The other 3 will be the capstone.

I think I've pretty well settled on my path....I was hoping to be able to take a short 1 credit course to make up that final credit, but I guess I'll just have to take another exam. So to meet these requirements, I'm going to take

1. DSST Speech
2. DSST Substance Abuse
3. CLEP Analyzing and interpreting literature

This will leave me with only the cornerstone and capstone!

See if your local CC has an instrument class, say piano or guitar. These are almost always 1cr hr. Meet a maximum twice a week. Most often are available after hours. Summer classes are usually only 7-8 weeks Inexpensive, easy, and lots of fun!
