What type job you looking to get into? I was a firefighter for the Air Force for 4 yrs before I cross trained to air traffic control.

I just want to do 2 years to qualify for the GI Bill and go to college? doesn't matter if it's infantry or cav scout.

Not to take anything away from either of those jobs...they're VERY important, but the Army has some great jobs with great training that could have some serious benefit once you get out.

You don't even NEED a GED if you have at least 15 100+ level credits transcripted by an ACCREDITED UNIVERSITY. That's how the Air Force let me enlist 5 years ago WITHOUT a high school diploma.
19 DSST attempted - 54 credits awarded (1 unsuccessful)
11 CLEP attempted - 24 credits awarded (5 unsuccessful)
1 ECE attempted - 3 credits

I agree about being more selective with your rate. There are some great ratings for every branch of the military. I can tell you from personal experience that my years as a nuclear electrician got me much farther than if I had been in the infantry. Better job, more college credit (72 credits), better pay.

What should i do? open up a TESC credit bank and bank all the credits in there? is this a legitimate way of enlisting with over 50 college credits? i want to go in as a E-3.

will it work?

Yes to your question.
But you are aware that by learning your book in DEP that you receive gets you to E2 atleast for me it did. Then E3 comes with 15 college credits. 90 if im not mistaken gets you OCS if you are Army.

To be honest with you there's very little difference from E-1 to E-3, at least in the USCG.

They all messcook (KP) and do the same damn unskilled labor jobs. E-3 will put you maybe 6 months ahead of an E-2 or E-1 when it comes to making rank and make you maybe an extra $100 or $200 a month. Don't let your recruiter try and tell you otherwise...

This is true and this is why they give those paygrades away so easy prior to entry.

So don't be a dumbass like me and sign up for 6 years active instead of 4 so you can get a paybump to E-3 instead of E-2...hilarious

So why would he not want more pay for the same job?
