I need your help please. Went to Penn Foster

dfrecore Wrote:Don't hold your breath - it will probably be the full 5 weeks, unfortunately. I swear, they hold your app and transcripts and do your eval the night before the 5-week timeframe is up. Not kidding, the last 2 evals I've had have all been done on the 25th business day exactly. Not a single day sooner, even though I was only transferring over 1 course from a CC the first time (and they received it electronically in 2 days) and the other from ACE (and they received that one in 1 day). There is no way they could have taken more than 5 minutes to evaluate and transfer over the courses. With 4 of the courses, they already had them in their system (ALEKS College Algebra, Insurance Ethics, Sophia's Project Management, and Kaplan PLA course). With the CC course, it was a requirement for my degree, and the exact course (Organizational Theory for the BSBA HR degree). No, they sit on them and wait the full number of days posted on the website, I am positive.

Ok, rant over! Thanks for listening. :-P

hehehe I hear you... What should I do now? That's a long time I can use the time to complete something. Any suggestions? I have attached at start of this thread what I have completed so far with Penn. Wondering if I should do some math, but I have complete math classes as part of my associates degree with PF.

Prloko Wrote:Dino,

What is your ultimate goal? Your planning should be based on that, not only some perceived speed or cost savings (although important). Way too many people on here take some fast/easy route to find out later that a grad school or an employer didn't like all the PF, SL classes on their transcripts. It can save you a lot of time and headache if you plan in advance. WGU and Patton are not your only options for graduate. And for that matter, TESU, COSC, Excelsior are not your only options for undergrad.

Hi Prloko,

My goal is to complete Bachelors, but since I have AS in Business Management that's the route I am taking to be able to transfer most of my credits. I have over 11 years of experience in current field and overall 15 years of professional working experience. I also have numerous certification related to my current job. It's really just a checkbox for me to be honest. There isn't anything new I will learn in classes that will give me an edge for my position. I have no issue getting interviews and offers just bachelors gets on the way sometimes (not all the time). Some of my potential employers don't care about GPA just that I have a Bachelors degree.
I didn't know about Patton, seems interesting how they do it and it's self-paced I have a family so flexibility is important.

And that's perfectly fine. I just notice sometimes, people are quick to advise a cookie-cutter route that is not best for everyone. So I just remind people to make sure they see this from all angles before jumping in. There have been people in the past, including some who were hell bent that they didn't need any other schooling, etc. Some time later, they are on here attempting to get 2nd, 3rd degrees because the first one was missing an important aspect. It is just my position that you should put yourself in a good position to start with.

You seem to have exactly what you need with the current plan, so chug on!

PrLoko-isms
Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.

Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.

Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.

Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.

Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.

Was thinking to maybe try Upper Iowa. Got accepted and got the credits looked at, but my advisor is busy with students who are enrolling into a term now. She just sent list of classes to take. I was thinking to take PF or SL or others to get to 90 and consider finishing there, but unless I enroll I don't think I will get the details I need to take on the next class. Here is what I got:

COMM105
Two Biological/Physical Science courses (one must be upper level)
Cultures (Upper Level) course
BA160 Microeconomic Principles
BA161 Macroeconomic Principles
BA222 Management Information Systems
BA222 Business Ethics or PHIL 202 Contemporary Ethics
BA341 Corporate Financial Management
BA356 Quantitative Decisions in Business
BA 317 International Mgmt
BA 361 Human Resources Mgmt
BA 423 Prod & Op Management
BA 454 Mgmt Cases
BA 460 Strategic Management

One of the following
PSY 338 Motivation
BA 362 Supervision
BA 365 Leadership Theory
BA 367 Cross-cultural Leadership
BA 370 Ent & Small Bus Mgmt
BA 411 Labor Relations & Neg
BA 415 Cross-cultural Negot
BA 421 Managerial Cost Acct
PSY 440 Industrial Psychology
BA 445 Contemp Topics Mgmt
BA/PSY 474 Org Behavior*

I thought I had Org Behavior already =(

I wanted to see list of what I have vs what I need. I see Ethics there which I already have for 2 credits UL from Institutes.
#37
Finally got results for TESU. Should I post complete list here or should I just PM if someone can assist?
I have 69 accepted and 51 needed. (doesn't include 2 Ethics credits from Institutes take after transcript was sent so it's really 49 needed)

Some classes need from what they told in email is :

ENC-102: English Composition II
This course will fulfill one of your General Education requirements.

Ethics which I have cover short 1 credit.

Looks like College Algebra as well.

Let me know what to post I will provide here or PM and get the ball rolling to get more classes done.

Thanks so much

Sorry for delayed response, been a bit busy. I will copy paste if it's not understandable / readable I will have to figure out to fix in word or excel and re-post.

Thanks so much for your help.
