I think I just passed C++ programming! I am so excited.
#1
I think that C++ at straighterline has been my most difficult course so far.  I failed it the first time with a 63% and scored 20 out of 50 correct on the final.  This time, I was heading into the final with an 86% and I counted 35 correct answers in the automatic grading.  I do not normally get nervous taking these exams, but I was nervous for this one.  I am so excited.  Smile

Oh wow! Congrats on the pass! What an accomplishment, reminds me of passing Stats, I had 65 on that SL course and did Business Stats instead, got an 85! This is after using ALEKS, that month was pure math hell for me.

They allow a sheet of notes - front and back - for use on this exam. That is what really helped me on the exam. I took the course the first time and failed, but that attempt gave me insight into the kinds of information that I needed on the exam. I made sure to download all of the tests from my first attempt at the class before resetting the class. I copied all of the tests from the second attempt as well and began to study and review them all in detail. This allowed me to create a GREAT study sheet for the exam.

Without going into details, you do have to do some limited programming.  This is one of the few tests from SL that aren't completely multiple guess.  If you did well on most of the programming assignments, you will do fine.  If you struggled at doing the labs, you might want to do some more programming practice before taking the final.

I registered for the course, but haven't started it yet. I will need to renew my membership before I can start.
How are the assignments for a beginner or novice programmer?
Goals: TESU BSBA GM (Added CIS) and BA Computer Science
BSBA GM - Added CIS AOS (CIS & GM completed)
BACS & Grad Plans (BACS instead of BALS w/NSM)

AAS ACS & ESST: Remaining - Associate Capstone
ASNSM CS: Completed, ASNSM Math: Remaining - Calculus I

Taking a majority of credits at Sophia.org, SL, and Study.com to finish these degrees
Updating my courses remaining by following forum advice, guide, spreadsheet & wiki

I found the assignments to be very difficult. The funny thing is that each programming assignment counts for very little in the entire grade. All of the programs together count for 200 points. The midterm counts for 200. The final counts for 400. The other quizzes are 200 points.

There are a total of 1000 points in the course:
Topic Assessment Points Available
1 Programming assignment 1: Basic output - ASCII Art 25
2 Programming assignment 2: Programming assignment 2: Variables - Painting a wall 25
2 Graded Quiz 1 50
3 Programming assignment 3: Branching - Tweet decoder 25
4 Programming assignment 4: Loops - Drawing a tree 25
4 Graded Quiz 2 50
5 Programming assignment 5:Vectors - Decrypting a secret message 25
5 Midterm 200
7 Programming assignment 6: Functions - Upset fowl 25
7 Graded Quiz 3 50
9 Programming assignment 7: Classes/Streams - Marketing software 25
9 Graded Quiz 4 50
11 Programming assignment 8: Pointers/Inheritance - Inventory system 25
12 Final 400
Total 1000
