IT degree with A levels & 7 years of work experience

I don't think many people have done all of these yet, if the course modules are identical and it shows you've completed them, then there isn't a need to 'repeat' the work. Having said that, I've not taken any of these yet, they're on my to-do-list, if you add the programs to your list and you check them, does each of them have the same modules? The names of them are slightly different on some, one says Analytics, the other says Science, that makes me think they're 'different' classes, thus, you have to repeat the work!

1st off, you do not have to redo the work if you complete 2 certificates that share module(s)/course(s). You only have to complete the new modules/courses. Some of the IBM certificates have a lot of overlap, so that is, indeed, a lot of potential credit one can get for little additional effort.

Thanks to your question, I went and checked the transfer database. There are now only two IBM certificates that nobody has yet transferred to UMPI.

The IBM Data Science Professional Certificate counts as 9 credits of BUS1XX and 3 credits of COS3XX. So that and the certificates you've already taken do not overlap at UMPI. Each COSXXX or BUSXXX will have its own entry with separate credits and not overlap. This differs from courses with specific numbers (such as BUS345 or BUS440); if you brought in another course with the same number, they would overlap and you would only get credit once.

If you do the IBM Full Stack Developer Professional Certificate, it will list as transfer credits of GEL1XX and GEL3XX. Not super useful for a Master's program in and of itself, but they'll want to see the source of transfer credits anyway so they'll see the IBM certificate on your Credly transcript.

What is left now is Study.com, and to be more specific:

Business 110: Business Math
Business 303: Management Information Systems
Business 304: Leading Organizational Change
Business 312: Advanced Operations Management

Hopefully I can do them in 1-2 months, but not sure how hard it's going to be since I've heard someone mentioning it's a bit harder with Study.com.

Maybe will try to evaluate my credentials for Metropolia and applying there aswell, but not sure yet if it's worth the time investment.

My understanding for the IT degree is that, so long as you finish the 600€ bit, you're (almost) guaranteed a spot in the IT degree program. I think they usually don't overly care about your accomplishments beyond that, except maybe employment stuff to waive any internship requirements.

@Sherwood, Yes, the UMPI BABA PM & IS would be a very good fit, that's a degree mainly in Business Administration with a concentration in Project Management & Info Systems, it's not a true IS/IT degree. What you may want to do is, get the cheapo Metropolia degree in addition to that if the energy, price, time is right. Hello again everyone,

It's been a while. I've been going through some personal problems and everything went on hold.

A quick possitive update.

I finished my 180 credits at Metropolia, applied and got accepted. So I am now on the 4th (and last) course.
The reason for choosing Metropolia was mostly financial. Although the University rating seemed quite good overall too.
I would like to do the UMPI degree in the future, since working government jobs requires some kind of a management degree in my Eastern European home country.

Hopefully if all goes well, I will apply to a Masters degree. For EU citizens there seem to be quite a few of those online for free in other Scandinavian countries.

Hi everyone,

It's been a while.

I just graduated today and received my degree certificate from Metropolia!
I wanted to thank each and everyone of you for all the great advice. While I don't really feel any different about having "a degree" at the moment, hopefully it will help in the future.

The goal now is to try and apply to a bunch of online Master's degrees, I saw that quite a few Scandinavian countries offer those online for free for EU citizens.

I'm a bit sceptical about the degree being an online degree certificate. My parents are both from post Soviet backgrounds and they will probably think that I got scammed

But if it let's me apply for job positions, get a visa abroad, or to apply to a Master's degree from a B&M uni, then it's all good.

Again, thank you all very much, I really appreciate your help. Hopefully this is not the ending of the journey, but just the beginning!
