I have been wanting a Tesla for a long time. I don't live in a cold climate (southern CA) but all of the issues that these cars have had in the recent years have definitely tamed down my want for them. They won't be my top choice when I need to replace my vehicle.

Ouch, yeah, for expensive cars like these, they're a downer when something breaks... I rather go for a hybrid, or hybrid plugin, I like saving gas and the environment, but not at my expense for timely repairs or the dent in my wallet.

I have a hybrid and it doesn't start in cold weather. It's been an absolute nightmare living in an area with cold weather. Given that Toyota is based in Japan one would think they'd make vehicles that can handle winter, but yeah they don't.

I wonder how many ICE cars refused to crank over after their regular lead-acid batteries were exposed to that kind of cold for a few days...

The only thing unusual here is that they happened to congregate at the Supercharger instead of being spread all around the city.

If you get the chance to drive a friend's Tesla or rent one, go for it!

It's like driving a cloud. Own a Tesla though? No way, too expensive, and you're vendor-locked in to Tesla.

Regenerative breaking took me like one minute to get used to, now I wish all cars had it. Just let your foot off the gas until the vehicle stops. Priceless, and there's a brake as well if you need it. Also doing the acceleration test like they do on YouTube is a thing I can confirm. You really go back in the seat when you put the gas pedal down.

Also I've had the opportunity to drive (not own lol, friends') baller vehicles by Mercedes, BMW, Audi, Maserati, Land Rover, and Corvette in the past. Tesla still is my favourite by a quarter-mile Big Grin

But yeah, real winter weather, lol nope, DoN't dO It is my advice. Just get a regular car with snows on it, practice, and learn to anticipate on coming hazards is best. And if you're North enough, unplug the engine block heater, throw on the snow chains and go for a practice.
