For a master's program in public administration I'm looking to do, a pre-req needed is a course in us government. I already have one in US History, but that won't suffice. So I know there's BYU but $550 or so is too much imo and the CLEP in US Government seems to have a bad reputation.
So I'm looking for some option that is relatively easy, and cheap. There are no Penn Foster courses on this one as far as I can tell. Any cheap CCs that may have something perhaps?

How was this course? Some feedback I read about hte course is that it heavily relies on the textbook and ?s seem to come out of random chapters and not the ones the readings are assigned on. Do you know how much time it took your wife to complete, and do you think it could be done in a few days?

I found the CLEP very doable. I used instacert and online videos (Hip Hughes History on youtube) totaling approx 6 hours of study and passed with a 55. Being that you're not originally from the US, studying some additional materials outside those two would probably benefit you significantly. Straighterline also has those same issues on every class they have. As long as you have an ebook and can use a search feature or CTRL+F you'll be fine passing any quiz or test.
Completed:
FEMA: 20 credit hours, B&M: 33 credit hours, AARTS: 14 credit hours, certifications
ALEKS: Intermediate Algebra, College Algebra
CLEP: Analyzing & Interpret. Literature CLEP - 66, English Composition Modular CLEP - 58, American Government CLEP - 58, Social Sciences & History CLEP - 63
DSST: Intro to Computing DSST - 452
Straighterline: Business Ethics (88%), Criminal Justice (94%), World Religions (93%), Cultural Anthropology (92%), Intro to Sociology (94%)
Sophia: Biology, US History I
Study.com: English Comp II, Presentations for the Workplace

Look at this one, RA, legit school, ASU shouldn't have an issue with it and it is relatively cheap at $330
Political Science-Independent Study in Idaho-University of Idaho
You can pull the full grading rubric and syllabus from that site.
MBA, Western Governors University February 2014
BS Charter Oak State College November 2011
AS in EMS August 2010
I'm always happy to complete the free application waiver for those applying to WGU (I get a free gift from WGU for this). Just PM me your first/last name and a valid email so I can complete their form.

Thanks - I checked ASU's catalog and called their dean and they are ok with ACE accredited work so long as the minimum score of C is achieved. The dean of the program seemed pretty chill overall, and the two courses were more for general understanding going into the program (and could be done simultaneously with the MPA if someone didn't have them).

Also, don't leave out New Mexico Junior College. It would be cheaper than any independent study course, and I would be utterly surprised if it were difficult. It's offered this fall in 8 and 15 week versions. Open admission, really friendly staff. Looks like no proctor needed. It also looks like it's offered for the summer as well, but I don't know when the deadline for registration is.
