For a 3 credit exam, my goal is to study for 3-4 hours on weekdays for 4 weeks. That is usually 2 weeks of reading and watching videos and then 2 weeks of practice exams and review.

What is your study schedule?
AS in 2010 and BS in 2013 at Excelsior College - Transcripts and Costs
MS Biostatistics in 2019 at Texas A&M University - Graduate School

Sharing Credit-by-Exam* and Help for Veterans
Resources Used - 20+ Exams Passed & General GRE
Practice Tests - Available for CLEP and DSST

NAP's description is pretty close to my baseline. I may study closer to 2-3 hours during the week and do more on the weekend.

How much I know about the topic before starting makes a difference, as does changing up the schedule to suit the content. Macroeconomics was more hours over a longer period and CLEP Info Sys/DSST MIS were a lot less. DSST Ethics was different. It's a subject that benefits from a little time to think. I studied very casually over a two-month period, then did a week of intense review right before the exam.

Being older and out of school for a long time, I make sure to allow a lot of time. Each week is different, due to other obligations, but overall I prepare at least a month with 3-4 hours for 2 to 3 nights during the week, and reviewing over the weekends as well -- probably 4 to 6 hours each day. Any thing I can get my hands on to help will be utilized, especially the forum shared information. The harder the subject (for me) the more time invested.

I know some can read and regurgitate the answers and do well on the tests but, frankly, even when young I could never learn that way. I have always had to study harder and longer -- the result is lots of "stuff" in my brain to retrieve at the strangest times Smile

You need to figure out your style and not try to beat someone else's shortest-time ever studied record.
