The first paper isn't too shabby. 15 pages + 5 page bibliography. The content is really informative so I'm double reading it all.

What are you looking for in program accreditation? UMPI is a state public university (not private like most of the ones on this forum) that is regionally accrediated. So their degrees hold up very well. a state university degree is tremendously respected.

a lot of schools have the business programs accredited by AABSP or AACSB. I am not sure how important that is......

Honestly, it depends. BUT, unless you're going to a very competitive field/company, or going into teaching, it probably doesn't matter.

I suspect this is true. I think it’s also the case that most employers won’t even know or care. As an example, most of the Cal State system schools are AACSB, some are not. Channel Islands is ACBSP accredited, Humboldt State is IACBE accredited, Monterey Bay does not have programmatic accreditation (though they say they are pursuing AACSB).

Realistically, if an employer gets applications for a job and the candidates have, respectively, BBAs from Channel Islands, Humboldt, Monterey Bay, and Bakersfield (AACSB), will that programmatic accreditation matter?  In 99 cases out of 100, the HR person or business owner looking at the applications won’t know or care.  They will look at your GPA, work experience, certifications, etc.; that will matter a whole lot more.

One thing that hasn’t been mentioned—if you want to pursue an MBA or other graduate degree in business, some AACSB programs make people with non-AACSB bachelor’s degrees do some extra preparatory/leveling coursework.  But, it’s not ALL AACSB programs and for the ones that I have looked at, it seems to be a course, maybe 2 or 3 extra. If that’s a deal breaker, just don’t go to that school for your MBA...
