MSc Data Science - University Of Colorado Boulder
#1
Hi

Anyone has joined MSc Data Science programme from Boulder.

Curriculum wise it looks excellent.
Price wise seems OK.
But i have seen GeorgiaTech and U. Of Texas are around $10,000 but curriculum is not that Broad.

Those who have joined Boulder or thinking, lets discuss. Thanks.

I may join in Jan '23

It looks like a great program. Kinda like try before you buy as well.

If you need federal financial aid. This isn’t the program for you. That is if you’re referring to the coursera platform.

I'm probably going to be starting the following session.  I like the fact that you can start the course material, see how well you're doing in it before registering for credit.  I also like that it is in 1 credit chunks which seems to make it more doable.  I watched some of their webinars and looked over the curriculum.  Looks pretty good to me. I won't be paying for the vast majority of it, so price is pretty irrelevant.

You really need to have your options open, I would suggest listing yourself 3 top choices and have 3 backup options just in case something happens or if the application you have isn't strong enough. Make sure to "hit" all the requirements for each of them if not more...

No application for this program. Register, pay for, and pass a series of pathway courses.

Yep and you don’t even have to pay for it till you’re ready to try for credit for the course.

So anyone planning to start or already doing it?

What other options can we look at.
That is probably performance based admission and Online ?

Anything from Universities that are below 300 QS Rank ? Better options than Boulder ?

I've started dabbling in 'audit' mode for a course that is part of the CU Boulder ME-EM.  Not sure exactly what route I'm going to take, but I'm thinking about starting off with a mix of courses from the ME-EM and data science since you're allowed to have 9 hours from data science in the ME-EM and 6 hours from the engineering management in the MSDS.  My thought is a degree in one and a certificate in the other since there can be a wide degree of overlap.

If anyone has started, what are the additional assignments in the for credit vs the non-credit like? Final exam? Final project? Are they generally extensive?

Does anyone get experience to share for their Electrical Engineering Masters?

The way the degree works especially the Coursera part seems nice but there're very limited information about it. (And seems the only online master's degree in my field)
