If you want to get sole acknowledgement, make your own website. You won't be the first nor the last. I'll keep passing on what I know for free, because I got it free.

Where did I say I wanted to get paid?

Even though we discuss academics, this site and our works are non-academic in nature and is derived from open source information from ACE, the big 3 schools, military counselors, etc that is basically consolidated and regurgitated here.

My plans are not based on common knowledge. My plans are based on extensive research and personal experiences. The research that went into making these plans, which took hours, is similar to the research I would have conducted to put together a literature review. You can't just rip information from a literature review and not reference it. The information people get for their literature reviews is almost always free and readily available to any college student. If these things were common knowledge, then military counselors would be throwing together these plans themselves, and this forum wouldn't have much activity. When I wrote a paper for a criminal justice course and talked about typical requirements for becoming a criminal investigator, my professor, who has reviewed submissions for journals, said I needed a source. She didn't say I needed a source because I plagiarized from someone, but she said I needed one to back up what I was saying because it was not common knowledge. You would think that the requirements for becoming a criminal investigator would be common knowledge for criminologists reading academic journals; but, apparently, they are not.

Common knowledge would be, "Many schools accept ACE-evaluated credits," or, "ACE evaluates courses and exams for college credit." Common knowledge is not, "This test is equivalent to XXX-301 at Charter Oak State College."

soliloquy Wrote:Confused...what did they use again? You said they did not copy your plan because their plan is terrible and more expensive...so what did they appropriate of yours that justifies acknowledgement? I'm not being sarcastic, I just don't understand what the acknowledgment would be attached to. TX

A simple thank you for providing them with the information that was eventually useful to them would have been nice. Instead, they told me thank you for my comment, but that I was wrong. It's akin to telling a coworker that their idea wouldn't work and then turning around to tell their boss about their new idea and getting credit for it.

Don't waste time by trying to save time. The only sure way to complete your degree is to knock out credits quickly and efficiently.

Don't let easiness bite you in the rear. Know your endgame (where you want to be) and plan backward from there. Your education is a means to an end.

Be honest professionally, socially and academically. There are people (especially little ones) who look up to you and they're going by your example.

Be proud. Whether you're an Engineer or Fast Food worker, there is honor and dignity in hard work.

Picking on people weaker than you only proves that you are a weak person.

The difference is that even in the subscriber's only section each person gets credit for their ideas or experiences. Even if it is just by use of their forum handle. Also, no one is required to post anything at all on these forums. It is not a requirement of InstantCert membership. People post knowing they are not going to receive compensation. What one doesn't expect is that someone will post that their idea is not feasible and then post a similar idea at a later time.

No one is saying they meant any harm. Just that they should give her the acknowledgement that she deserves.
