My voucher from Modern States is different...
#11
They give you a lot more than 4 days to schedule the exam; they give you 4 days to PURCHASE it (for free). Unless things have changed, you can delay scheduling as long as you want as long as you take it within six months of purchasing.

I doesn't sound like a real problem, but it could be if someone wasn't aware of it.

This is my guess. Seems like previously people could just grab all the vouchers even if they don't know if they'll need the test since they didn't expire.

That's a good thought. But come on, give a person more than 4 days....

It's not too big of an issue, but my week is ending up being crazy busy and it would just be better if I could have had more time to purchase the exam. All in all, not a big deal for me; I just hope it's not an issue for others.

Ok, since we're getting into semantics, I just went through the process to see what it says, and it says that I'm REGISTERING for the exam.

Either way, you don't have to TAKE the exam within 4 days, you just have to register for it within the timeframe.

I can see your point. What if you’re on vacation and it arrives with only 4 days to purchase. We had 30 days (end of June) to purchase our tesst and then 6 months, I think, to take it. That was end of May. Wonder if it was a mistake.

I just hope they don’t run out. I hear so many people talking about it now, posters in testing centers, and schools having their kids use it. I fear they’ll run out and end the program before we are done!

Modern States has been pretty easy to work with imo. If you miss the deadline and you email them, they would probably send you another. I'm ordering a voucher next week. I'll report back what the deadline is.

Yes, please keep us posted on their response. I hope the timing works out for you

Ok, so just got a response back from Modern States. They simply said: All vouchers expire on 6/29 of each year. New vouchers are not issued until after that date.
Is this something they do every year?? I'm not really sure what to make of their response.

It sounds like they're running on a fiscal year schedule with the vouchers - why the 29th vs the 30th of June is not clear.

If they're running a 4/4/5 quarter, June 29th is the last Saturday of the quarter, and Sunday the 30th would be the 1st day of the next quarter.  Most companies don't do business based on the last day of the month, because it's harder to plan that way (every month is a different length of time, and has a different number of Mondays, Thursdays, etc.).  If you do a 4/4/5 quarter (4 week, 4 week, 5 week), then every quarter is the same length of time, same number of Tuesdays, etc.
