New Member - Need Assistance With TESU Psychology Plan
#1
Hi everyone! I’m new to this forum and learning a lot! I started at Patten University 3 years ago and wasted my time away. I finished 39 credits during that time toward an Early Childhood Education BA in psychology. I am teaching in a foreign country and wanted to shoot for being a teacher with credentials eventually.

A friend recommended this forum and I quit Patten in April (just before they went under, don’t blame me!) and transferred my credits to TESU. I'm trying to get an idea of where to begin now. After all that wasted time and money, I want something quicker and cheaper. Can anyone recommend a psychology degree plan? Or if I can transfer psychology courses I’ve already completed into a quicker/easier degree program, I’ll consider that. I’m not 100% sure I want to be a teacher anymore, so another degree program is ok.

I got the two free credits at Sofia and completed an oral language proficiency test in Mandarin for three more credits, but I’m stuck on what to do now. Study.com is an option, but I’m wondering if there are any other options. Thanks for your help!

Here are my completed and non-completed credits toward the psychology degree. Dashes indicate credits still needed.

2 quick things to point out for you...

TESU accepts Study.com ethics in the social sciences for that requirement.
Also, they will accept Study.com's Physiological Psychology for that requirement.
Both of these courses come in as LL.

Out of curiosity, why did you leave Patten to come to TESU? That's the same thing I'm did so I'm curious as to your perspective.

Yo, Joshy - You wouldn't happen to be Josh Paler Lin, would you? Hmm... I would recommend if you're into Psychology to follow the path that JSD took to get his BA in Psychology. If you need a faster route to a degree (check in the box), the BALS with a Psychology concentration may work for you as well, or if you want, you may consider a BALS with no concentration.

My question is, which country are you in? Do they have CLEP testing sites near you? If you don't know, it's OK. We can go with the ACE/NCCRS options instead - a majority of them would be SL/Study.com recommendations from me. If your country has a CLEP site very close to your city, then you can most likely still go for the MS/CLEP option, but for cheap/easy/fast, ACE/NCCRS is the way.

Hey, a friend recommended TESU to save time and money. I was not doing well with the 50% final and 50% project grade. TESU offered a lot more flexibility on getting credits. What about you?

No, I’m another Josh, haha. Unfortunately there are no CLEP testing sites nearby. The closest would be in Japan, which I’m not opposed to doing on a short vacation! I’ve taken the five-day free course preview at Study and liked the format (online testing only) and proctoring doesn't bother me, it’s just that the damn internet connection sometimes isn’t too conducive. So yeah, I’ll check out Straighterline as well. The BALS with psychology major sounds interesting. I’ll look into that as well. I appreciate your help!

Yeah, your best option is using SL and Study.com for the bulk of your courses - if you require other Area of Study courses, then you can get them through different ACE or NCCRS course providers. The hyperlinks in the previous post will provide you course providers and which courses to take.

If you have time, you may want to check the Beginners Guide post 27/28 and create your new spreadsheet to customize the courses you need. You can use that My Degree Plan! excel spreadsheet for accountability and tracking purposes, the other sheets are for reference or as examples.
