I just need Micro and I begin the nursing exams. My question is: Has anyone taken the excelsior Micro
and how did you study for it? It is very,very broad and I'm not sure how much I'm retaining. Does anyone
have a good studyguide? I have Excelsior's guide but .........whew!

I have not taken this exam I did look at it but I decided to go a different way. Do you have a good understanding of basic biology? I would think that would be important. Are you a member of IC? If so you might want to check the specific exam feedback. If you are not a member it might be worth the $20 just to read what is there about this exam.

I haven't found anything about Excelsior's Micro exam on here and I have used various
combinations in my search. I really wanted to talk to someone who had taken this exam
and their thoughts and tips on the areas of focus. Oh...... and I am a member of this site.

Well glad to hear many have tken it, maybe someone will post about it. I am a member of Allnurses
And several yahoo study groups for nurses. There is very little information on the microbiology exams
on those sites.

I took this exam about 2 years ago and scored a B. I had never taken micrbiology before. I primarily used Micrbiology Demystified, a chea p micro book I got off Amazon for $5, Excelsiors practice test and the Content guide. I simple went line by line threw the guide and looked up everything listed. This was my last exam after I passed the Cone and I wanted to be done quickly. I passed it in 2 weeks. If you still feel uncomfortable look at Straighterlines Microbiology.
