I love when a single word is highlighted in TurnItIn. Yup, the word the is the most commonly one highlighted. THE. Seriously? How is that plagiarizing anything?

Yup, it was me. I stole your THE's!    

It can be really humorous reviewing the results of TurnItIn. I love how I plagiarize my own name and the date.

As long as your quotations are clearly marked I've never had anyone say anything about it. I think those scans are basically there to keep you from just copy pasting huge chunks of your paper

I have been correcting Excel files that they are sending through Blackboard.

And now I saw one with a red flag and a "it was likely copied from other sources" notice.

However, the scanner was not checking the contents of the file, but the one line that was sent in the message box with the attached file:
