Possible job
#1
I'm super excited right now! I've been volunteering for an organization since last October, where I had originally applied for a job. They passed me over for that position and one other, neither of which paid hardly anything. The Executive Director had told me last winter that she planned to create some positions in the spring, and thought one of them might be more appropriate. Last week a notice was sent out about a new job, and looking at the job description and requirements I almost feel like she wrote this with me in mind. So, send me all the positive energy that you can - because this would be a great job for me!

It's basically helping women coming out of incarceration to navigate the services offered by the government, community services, and educational opportunities while also helping them to locate housing & jobs they qualify for. What will be unique about this position is that it's primarily working with women who were charged with prostitution & will require regular visits to the prison, so there aren't a whole lot of people that will be jumping hoops to get this job - but for me it would be perfect! Its part administrative, part travel, working directly to help a population whose challenges I am familiar with. Plus, I already know and get along with all the people (primarily women) at this place, which is really important to me since I've had some really bad experience in the past in trying to deal with jealous female co-workers.

::floating on cloud 9:: I really hope I land this job! Big Grin

Good luck. You're right, it's not the job for everyone. It's good that you have worked in the system and know about the supports available, and the problems these women will face.
