They were able to remotely restart my computer, and without my intervention, reconnect to the mother ship and begin anew. Only after they re-popped up the chat window could I see what they were doing again. And they did a ton of stuff, whizzed by.

Woah, for real?? I'm sure they have it covered somewhere in the fine print, but I wouldn't think they'd actually go that far without asking or telling you?? Yikes, that makes me uncomfortable using them too. :leaving:

If you give screen control to them by go to meeting, they could restart your computer. There's no functionality within the program to restart itself and connect without your intervention upon reboot though.

You are straight up, 100% wrong there. They asked if they could restart the computer, then after I said yes, I sat there sitting on my hands like at a strip club.

The machine booted up, I heard the internet connection bonk, the mouse started moving, then after about twenty seconds the chat box popped up. I did nothing post-boot.

It happened exactly as I said. I didn't reconnect to them. I didn't do squat. It reconnected itself.

And, I did. I am fairly savvy with how things work. Admittedly, I am lacking in the windows ten environment, but after the applet dissolved, it even cleaned the event monitor and registry. I agree with you that it sounds far-fetched, but I'm telling you, they did a complete restart and then they picked back up within seconds of the laptop reconnecting to my hotspot. I never clicked the first button.

took another final today (I passed!)

I snuck a picture of the warning screen, it's attached for review.

Says they can:

transfer, delete, overwrite, or copy files and folders
run scripts

Clearly, this would be necessary for them to address certain issues. But, I've been told here that they can't bother files, and everything they do goes through the chat window log. AGAIN, I AM NOT SAYING PROCTOR U DOES ANYTHING WRONG. I am simply saying, you give them permission to do a great deal more in your computer than just move the mouse and open a few windows. Also, the people that code the applet can show or suppress any action they choose to; you cannot know. Especially since you're not offered a copy of the chat log, anyway.

Guess I never realized the copying files part. :ack: I'll have to compare that to RemoteProctor my next test and see if one is less invasive.
