Question about ECE test

Hi...I was wondering if anyone has taken the ECE "History of Nazi Germany". It says it will be discontinued at the end of June but it is a subject of interest for me so I thought I might take it before it goes away...considering that History will likely be my focus. THey don't offer any study materials for it and neither does instantcert so i wanted to know if anyone has taken it and what they suggest I use to study...

Here's the exam description from the website:

"Reflects a study of the history of National Socialism. Includes the rise of National Socialists to power, politics and the economy, everyday life in the Third Reich, the role of the SS in the National Socialist state, the Holocaust, and the legacy of National Socialism."

I called them to make sure they do still offer it and they do. They said there is no longer a study guide on their site though. I did find like 5 books for sale through their bookstore but they are expensive and so is the test. I don't know if it is worth it.

I also found a set of audio tapes that the Coast Guard recommended on their site but I'd prefer video...

Anyone have any study ideas for this test?

I've been considering taking this exam too, need to hurry. I checked Excelsior's publication page and the content guide is there. Maybe they were referring to the guided learning package that you have to purchase?

Sorry I never thanked you for the link! I took a brief hiatus from the site. I'm back and I have been watching every documentary or movie I can find on Nazi Germany. I also got a book called "Profiles in Power: Hitler". I watched this video I downloaded called "High Hitler" and let me tell you...he was wacko and part of the reason was because his own personal doctor was experimenting on him without him knowing! Let me know if you want that vid...I'll find a way to post it for you...

I am taking the Nazi Germany ECE on May 31 (The last day it will be offered)...After some extensive research on books, aids and guides...I came to the conclusion that the best reference is a book called "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich"...Apparently, it is the diffinitive guide on the subject...Unfortunately, it is over 1000 pages and dry reading...Anyway, I borrowed it from the library and started flipping through it on the beach on Sunday...Needless to say, it was about as interesting as watching grass grow...So, I did what any other red-blooded American would do-Look for the DVD...On the off-chance there was such a DVD...Well, THERE IS! AND, I bought it off eBay for 12 Bucks! It is based on the book and should give me enough material to effectively bullshit my way through the essays...Don't get me wrong, I will still read everything Wikipedia has to offer, But I find a Domino's pizza and the DVD goes a long way in absorbing the material...Anyway-I'd offer the DVD, but, I will be watching over and over until May 31st...Check eBay and get yourself a copy...It should be well worth the 12 bucks...

I think I may give up on this one...I haven't had enough time to study. I checked out that dvd you mentioned but the only copies available are coming from the Phillippines and who knows how long that will take. Maybe I'll try to buy one anyway and see what happens....

I just went back to Excelsior's site to print out the outline from the study guide and it said that the last day to take the exam is June 30th, 2006. It seems that they keep extending the date...I believe I have seen it extended about 3 times...I also checked on the shipping from the Phillippines and it said it would be 2-4 weeks. I guess I will go ahead and order the DVD for sure now! Thanks for the head's up!

I have owned the learning package for this exam for a while, just haven't got around to taking it. I bought it off of Ebay and included was the Great Courses VHS set for "History of Hitler’s Empire". They have came in handy for a class I am taking in the History of World War II. Here is the link

Thank you so much for that link!!!!!!!!!!! I ordered the 2 DVD set and look forward to getting it. This, along with the "Rise and Fall of the THird Reich" VHS set I just ordered (didn't have to get it from the Phillippines ) coupled with the "Hitler's War" DVD and the book "Profiles in Power: Hitler" will hopefully get me a decent grade.
