Question for Big Three Gads who Went on to Grad School
#21
I did a BS from Excelsior (60 units from testing, some pass fail lower divisions, nursing credits, etc.).  I've been admitted to 5 private masters' programs and 3 state univ/college masters' programs.
Denise

MS - Management and Leadership, WGU 2022
BS - Liberal Arts - Depths in Healthcare and Psychology, Excelsior College 2014
Certificate - Workers Comp Admin, UC Davis Extension, 1995
AA - Licensed Vocational Nursing and Selected Studies, Mesa College 1989
Certificate - Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN), Mesa College 1977

Also, someday maybe a MS in Forensic Psychology, just for fun.   Oh, and a BS in Animal Behavior.  And, maybe when I'm 85 a PhD in something fun.

If you got mostly ACE/NCCRS credits and and graduated from one of the Big Three, what challenges did you have getting into grad school? How did you overcome those challenges?

No challenges.

Did any of you get into a State school?

I got accepted at all the state schools I applied to: Sacramento State, Fort Hays, Eastern New Mexico, etc. I picked Amberton for the price, but I had no problems getting accepted at state schools.

Somewhat more generally, what advice would you give someone in my position who expects to go on to grad school eventually?

Be prepared that it won't be like testing out for credits or taking Straighterline/Study.com courses. There will be actual homework, deadlines, writing activities, tests, etc.
Also, most grad schools require that you get at least a B or above in every class. A "C" is failing. So no more getting the 70% minimum score with Straighterline or a 44 on a DSST exam and getting a "pass".

Is there anything you really wish someone would have told you about going from the Big Three to Grad school that never came up anywhere?

I wish someone would've just said, "If you just want a basic cheap accredited Master's in no particular field - just go to Amberton."
