Roadmap for New Excelsior College Students
#41
Yep, it does. Humanties is considered 'Arts and Sciences'
Allow me to introduce myself. My name is Wile E. Coyote, genius. I am not selling anything nor am I working my way through college, so let's get down to basics: you are a rabbit and I am going to eat you for supper. Now don't try to get away, I am more muscular, more cunning, faster and larger than you are, and I am a genius, while you could hardly pass the entrance examinations to kindergarten, so I'll give you the customary two minutes to say your prayers.

Bachelor of Science in PsychoRabbitology degree
Master of Education with a specialty in Rabbit-specific destructive munitions (or eLearning & Technology, I forget which)
Doctor of Philosophy in Wile E. Leadership with an area of specialty in Acme Mind Expansion - 2017 Hopefully

Okey dokey I have another question...What else would count towards the 10 credits? Would Marketing or Management? Is there another 6 credit test that would count?

I may be incorrect, but any of the 6 credit cleps should fit in there.
Natural Sciences & Math
Natural Science (The Test)
Bio
Chem
College Math

Humanites
A&I Lit
American Lit
English Lit
Humanites (the test)

Social Sciences/History
Social Sciences & History

And stuff like Management & Marketing would count because they'd fall under applied professional.

As always, you'll probably want to double check with your advisor to get the real scoop.

Be sure to go back and read the excellent information he put together just for you at this post:

(And, yes, whatever "extra" credits you get in the Social Science/History category, since you only need 1 more, will count towards your 10 credits of free electives, so they won't be wasted at all.)

MS Biostatistics in 2019 at Texas A&M University - Graduate School

I really appreciate all the help on here. THis is a great site. I have started pondering going straight for my bachelors to save money and am wondering what Cleps are upper lever?

No CLEPs that I can see, but DSSTs - YES.

A good place to start is the IC list of courses they offer. They have an asterik, I believe, next to them. They also list ECE tests you can take. This is through Excelsior but is a testing arm of the school for credit. CLEP and DSSTs are cheaper than ECEs, but ECEs are cheaper than having to take a course somewhere.

Also, if you check out past forum notes, you will see things people have learned about. For example, I just learned in the past few days that if I take the CLEP statistics it is lower level (LL) but if I use ALEKS to take statistics, someone had it show up on their Excelsior transcript as upper level (UL).

If my memory is correct some have used IC to study for Ethics (CLEPS) and then gone the extra mile and actually tested on ECE. I want to check this out but I think it was for UL credits.

You will see other subjects like Money and Banking, Civil War and Reconstruction, MIS, etc -- all of which are UL.

If a school uses the ACE recommended guidelines, the three ALEKS Stats are counted as UL courses. Excelsior has done this in the past, but they won't always use ACE Guidelines (The refreshed DSSTs that now show as upper level when they prior were listed as lower level are a good example of this)

The Statistics credit through DSST & Straighterlines course are evaluated by ACE as lower level credits.

I'd advise anyone looking to get credit for Statistics (Intro, Business, or Behavioral Sciences) to just rock out in ALEKS for the easy (and inexpensive) UL credit.

TESC seems to no longer grant credit for taking more than one of the three stats courses (some members recounted getting credit for all three) because of the duplication. I can easily understand this because the 3 courses through ALEKS are pretty much the exact same except for the wording of the questions. (Business Statistics uses Business related word problems, and Behavior Sciences uses more science/medical related word problems.)
