Not the physics lab, but I just did the Bio lab. They make you upload the order information for the lab kit from eScience as well as the unique lab kit code on each of the lab sheet submissions as well.

Also instead of quizzes you have worksheets with the lab classes. The answers are based on your experiments which require a kit. Unfortunately this makes SL lab courses more expensive than community college courses.

But I think you will need to get the kit or find a way to scrounge up the components of the kit so you can do the experiments. Take a look at the syllabus on the SL site and you will see that you need to complete worksheets and provide photos.
