SNHU IDS-105 requirement
#1
Hello,

I've been advisd by SNHU Admission Counselor that "...all transfer students for the online programs have to take IDS-105 to fulfill [Social Justice and Sustainability] requirement". I'm looking to confirm if I've been given correct information.

According to the GE guidelines here, I should be able to take ENV101 - Environmental Science or even transfer it in from Sophia. I do not want to take IDS105 and would rather take ENV101 or some other class. How should I proceed?

P.S. for more information my plan is listed here along with the transfer audit.

According to my degree audit that I just got a few days ago, ENV 101 did fulfill that Social Justice and Sustainability requirement. I took it on Sophia and it transferred in just fine. I am an online transfer student and do not have to take IDS-105.

A lot of the information in this Wiki GE came from an SNHU employee who generously clarified how everything works. Without their help, understanding the general education requirements on the website would have required psychic powers.

As Ecomony stated, Sophia's ENV 101 still fulfills the Social Justice and Sustainability requirement.

Each course costs around $1,000, so make sure not to take any courses you don't need!

Thank you both for your help. I will reach out to SNHU to get further clarification considering this information.

Out of curiosity, is it preferrable that we do not mention this forum or are the schools perfectly aware of these discussions?

Basically... It's really going to depend on the scenario, as all situations are going to be different and institutions work in various ways...As an example, if the institution is asking about where you're getting the info, you can mention you've read the advice on DegreeForum and/or DegreeInfo, moreover, online info is outdated...

Having said that, you want to be as compact and concise in your questions to these institutions. Sometimes the more info you provide them, the more they get confused on their own regulations and rules. I would recommend a couple of questions at most if you have to ask them, not 5-6 different questions all at once.
