Sat Gerontology This Morning

I took this after I got off work this morning.....What a mother of a test.... Not that it was overly difficult, just that it was 160 questions long. The first 60 were cake and I was getting quite full of myself, then the theories/scenarios set in. To say they were subjective is an understatement. Questions like this were the norm:

Many older adults feel this way about their lives and health:
1. Generally great
2. Generally poor
3. Feel like normal aging but have trouble getting around in my community
4. Overlly depressed about getting older

(not exact questions/answers)

Can they be any more vague? Can an old person out there answer this one for me? (no, I don't expect a response) I would imagine it would depend on which old person you talked to... I'm sure somewhere there is a textbook with this answer but it was not anywhere I read. end of rant

Overall I feel confident I passed, but time will tell....I used IC for this and I also took Adulthood and Aging last week; there was serious overlap between the two. I would recommend studying for both of them using IC THEN take the tests. I believe it would help you on each of the tests. I remember thinking as I was studying for this one how the information would have helped me on the A&A test last week. I also used this website to test my knowlege of the material once I completed my studies: http://wps.ablongman.com/ab_aging_geront...3-,00.html I can credit a couple of answers to it and hey, who doesn't like practice tests?

No word on the retake of ECE's HRM, I took it 2 days after World Pop (which I received the score on in a record 11 days)..... I keep trying to think good thoughts but I'm screaming inside!:eek:


I'm going to next tackle the dreaded Civil War test at the end of the month. That will be 5 for this month, howwever the quantity is not important as the results are. Good luck to all of you in your studies and wish the same for mine. Lee

Great news!
I do agree with you on the vagueness of some of the questions but you should pass no problem. I only studied IC's A&A and then took both and passed(If I waited one more week I would of had IC Gerontology).
Good luck on Civil War! I am not brave enough for that one yet.

I'll answer that mock question for you!! I'm 47 years OLD and I'd say #3!!! Getting around at my age is a real bitch!! ha ha! :p

Sounds like that was a rough one...glad I don't have to take it! But my fingers are crossed for you that you did well!

Here is the answer from an honest to goodness old person who has taken the exam. The answer is A and is highly subjective.
You are correct about some of the questions being vague but I had an advantage just from living a long time.hilarious

I believe you may actually be showing signs of mental deterioration Papa. Why else would your answer be "A" to a question whose only answer options are 1 through 4.

Thanks to basketweaver & all who have posted their thoughts/experiences with the Gerontology exam. I am supposed to take it on 10/25 and want to get it over with ASAP but I've been studying this morning and my scores are getting worse instead of better(so much for the "practice thoery"). I hate to put it off but I'm actually thinking I might reschedule for a week later. Any last minute advice on where to focus my efforts would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and congrats to those who've gone before me and passed!
