If you click on the FAQ PDF, it says:

Quote:What if I need a course to complete my program and it is not offered?
You can take up to 5 courses in our traditional undergraduate evening program during your journey as a CBE student at no additional cost. We have partnered with another college that offers all general education requirements in a CBE format. You could complete the course using Straighter-Line or Study.com and transfer into the CBE program. Courses in the CBE program are delivered in a sequence format and all courses in sequence five must be taken in the CBE program through Nichols.

They also have this page: https://study.com/college/school/nichols-college.html and SDC's page says that you can transfer up to 30 credits to Nichols.

I was specifically looking for ACE. That could be why I couldn't find anything. I wonder what college they partnered with to complete the gen ed reqs. There's no way to click on the FAQs of the PDF I shared.

I'm gonna be emailing Nichols College since I'm interested in both their program and UMPI's BABA PM concentration. My future plans include law school/MBA from a brick and mortar university so one of my questions will be whether we receive a letter grade for courses or whether its a pass/fail model like WGU. I can't go to a school with a pass/fail model since it doesn't look good for LSAC (the organization for all ABA law schools) and won't help me.

If it is graded, then I assume we'd be eligible for Latin honors on graduation.

I'll also ask whether the rest of the 90 credits can be comprised of SDC/Straighterline so long as you have the 24 RA credits. Apparently the reason why there's not much info on this program is because it started during the pandemic in 2020. I wouldn't be surprised if they're still figuring things out and may have more options in the future related to business.

UMPI gives letter grades and Latin Honors. The Latin Honors are also printed on the diploma from UMPI.

I also wonder which CBE college they're using for the gen eds. There aren't a lot of CBE schools out there.

Yup, that's definitely why UMPI was the other option for me, and would be a great choice. In fact that's the school that's currently my #1 option. I've heard though that there's a lot of essays, and while I'm not adverse to that, I am naturally better and faster on tests and memorization. I'd wanna know how Nichols differs from UMPI, if they do at all.

Regardless it seems like these two are the most affordable and best online CBE options that I know of that come from brick and mortar universities.

Definitely, will do! Actually I'll just start a new thread for Nichols just we can consolidate all the info we find for everyone as well.

Just so no one thinks this is the famous school called Columbia. Columbia College is not the famous Columbia. That's Columbia University. While Columbia is a great school, it's also big $$$ and difficult to get into. Columbia College doesn't look like what Ideas is looking for.

Most national universities just don't have a financial incentive to accept ACE credits. The ones that have embraced online-only programs tend to roll them out as clearly distinct from their traditional model, and they often only accept CLEP, or AP, or other RA credits for transfer, if they take much of anything. I think other people already provided some good options in other posts.

If it helps to caution against just choosing any place with "State University" or "University of" in its name, here's a poorly-written listicle that highlights the worst college in each state, based on factors like graduation rates, indebtedness, and sticker price: https://education.alot.com/higher-educat...ate--17343

Another factor to consider is that all schools are ultimately regional. The value of the school brand is often higher in the region the school is in than outside the region.
If you get into UT (Austin) but live in Vermont, it won't have as much value there as it would in Texas or surrounding states. The professional circles and networks the university is plugged into are mostly in the region the school is in.
If the seeker already has a career body of work and just needs a degree to remove career obstacles, any ole school might do. But if the seeker is counting on the "very good reputation" to help open doors, that reputation may only extend so far beyond the region the school is in.

Region is not a deal breaker but a factor worth considering depending on what you're trying to get out of a program.

Exactly, that's why I mentioned (twice in this thread), that it's best for the local/state research/doctoral universities being the first choice... then expand to the lesser known universities in the state. All public institutions will provide a well rounded education at an affordable price, you can try the private ones in the state as well if there is a specific program you're looking at that's not offered.
