Thank You that was a great idea. There is one other testing center about 35 minutes from her house that may be the best choice. There are several centers about an hour away but I don't think she would be comfortable driving that far alone. I will recommend the other testing center to her for this exam then the results can be sent to CCU and they can decide whether to give her credit or not.

One thing to consider is that you're trying to show her a positive experience with taking CLEP exams. She may be disappointed and put off if she puts in the effort and then gets no credit. Also, the school may get very sticky if she takes the exam after enrollment without approval. It sounds like they really want control of current students' test taking.
Personally, I wouldn't try to go around their gate keeping once she's enrolled.

Just to reiterate what I said in a previous post:
• Students must be currently enrolled in classes at Coastal Carolina University
You said your niece is NOT currently enrolled in classes, she's just considered an enrolled student at this point. So it may all be moot, since she's not who they're talking to in the link yet.
But, if you think it will discourage her, then it won't kill her to skip it for now.
For instance, before she signs up for classes, she can ask about the CLEP exams she wants to take, and just make sure not to sign up for those courses. Like, don't sign up for a math class, and then take the CLEP if it gets approved.

She can go to the testing center and take an exam as a non student but then she would have to get the results sent to a different school or no school.
Does anyone know if there is a number to use to send your CLEP directly to the ACE registry?
Linda, sometimes enrolled students are subject to different CLEP acceptance rules, especially at traditional colleges, that might be the case for her. I vote she wait.
PS she won't send her CLEP to ACE, she'll select Carolina as her school in the CLEP pre-test process. It will allow her to check box and it will send it to them directly for no cost.
