Sophia, only 2 courses active at one time

Great, thanks for the tips everybody! Looks like I can pick from Accounting or Micro to go through this week and definitely save Stat for later. Thanks y'all! Big Grin

Micro is short but not easy; if you've already done macro, though, you can have micro done in under a day. Accounting is longer but can be done relatively quickly. Stats is long and much more difficult. Trying to finish it before the 31st right now.

Notice the complaints for SDC mainly reference the misunderstanding between free trial and 30 day money back guarantee. I agree it’s disingenuous but it is quite clear if you read before putting in your credit card.

Honestly all post secondary education in the U.S. is fundamentally predatory and exploitative. These options are simply less so.

Respectfully, you seem to be sidestepping my point, which is curious, because you paid ~$99 per course, just like most of the people I advise (ALPA members). My only complaint is that pricing should be more egalitarian. I acknowledged the quality.

No, I didn't notice that.  I'm not going to sort through...what was it?  A hundred and eighty-seven complaints?

My point is that describing Sophia as having "just as much of a scumbag business model" as Study.com is laughable.  Feel free to sidestep it if you like, it won't change those BBB numbers.

Just to butt in, regardless of what people on review sites say, in my opinion Sophia.org offering organizational discounting is not scummy at all, whereas SDC's "gym membership"-style recurring billing is.

Comparison shopping is the topic of the day I guess? I usually read reviews to get a glimpse of how others feel about their purchases but that doesn't mean I need to take their advice. I regularly reviewed Fatwallet before they ceased operations, I still use their sister site Rakuten for discounts. My main site for value purchases is still SlickDeals... All in All, it's up to the buyer to decide which purchase is the better deal for them.

I think of the ACE/NCCRS alternative credit providers the same way as I think of the Cellphone Teleco's. They provide either a subscription based (post-paid cell plan) or a flat fee based service (pre-paid cell plan). For example in the case of Coopersmith, Davar, Sophia.org, etc you pay the flat fee based for each course/exam - one specific fee for one course. For Study.com/StraighterLine, etc, it's a post paid plan which is a monthly subscription with course add-ons if needed. Depending on the person's use and requirements, it's actually up to the individual to decide which provider would be best for them.

In the case above, there seems to be more "Subscription" based purchases vs the flat rate purchase because the membership allows them access to cheaper course purchases. That's the main reason I chose SL/Study.com as I get to finish more classes faster vs Sophia at a similar cost. That's just one factor, I highly recommend Sophia as well because their system is superb, graphically and the content that they teach is on par to what SL/Study.com teaches.

The philosophical direction is not for everyone, and I understood that. In the first year of the university, we were taught a course in general philosophy for the entire stream and for my classmates, I understood how they were not interested in this. I, in turn, sat in pairs on philosophy and listened to everything with incredible attention. Recently I have been reading a lot of philosophical books and essays, including on the site https://writingbros.com/essay-examples/philosophy/ Most of all I like to study the philosophy of Ancient Greece and Rome, in particular the philosophy of Stoicism.
