haven't seen this pop up yet. Southwestern College & New Earth Institute is a spiritual university that focuses on the world and education through the arts. Accredited by the former regional accreditor Higher Learning Commission (HLC is now DOE accreditor since the change of "no more RAs", but technically still RA).

Classes are in person in Santa Fe, New Mexico, or self-paced online.

$36600 for the degree, if, you want the counseling MA (last one) $57,000

Interesting... Someone should do an evaluation for programs such as these, I would compare programs from similar offerings and see what options are viable for each student because of cost, time, etc. I recall there is another program that was recently mentioned from Kairos University, there is a wiki page mentioning they're CBE, Link: https://degreeforum.miraheze.org/wiki/Co...d_Programs

The cool thing is their tuition, it's $400/month for a few of their programs (Masters of Arts in Counseling, Marriage & Family Therapy, and Doctor of Professional Counseling). I wonder why their $600/month is for the Doctor of Theology, I would have thought that would be "cheaper" or at the same price as their $400/month offerings. Anyone know the reason? I wouldn't pay per credit, it's $599/hour Link: https://kairos.edu/tuition/

Wow kairos doesn't seem so bad. Doctor of Professional Counseling is 4400?! wow!

Doctor of Theology is cool. I was raised Jewish-Christian I'd probably enjoy their classes tbh.  I also love how there's a generic Master of Arts for those that need that checkbox. RA accreditation not too shabby.

The critical piece of information re the Counseling degree programs is whether the program makes the graduate eligible to sit the state licensing exam in that discipline.  If not, then I would recommend the prospective student should stop and reconsider.

Exactly, in the program break down from their program link here, you have the following mentioned: https://kairos.edu/academics/programs/ma...ounseling/

~For those planning to pursue licensure as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist.
*For those planning to pursue licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor.

^Prepares students to pursue licensure as a Licensed Professional Counselor or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, and North Dakota. Students may also be eligible in other states that allow for “equivalent coursework.”

And from the program overview on the same link, you have this:

Licensure and Credentialing
Professional mental health practitioners are held to high standards of care and professionalism.  As such, Master of Arts in Counseling students pursuing clinical work after graduation must complete additional requirements.  Requirements for licensure are set forth by statutory laws and regulations and vary from state to state.  Subsequent requirements include, but are not limited to, application to a state licensing regulatory board, post-graduate direct clinical hours, plan and approval of a supervisor, and successful passage of a national licensure examination.  Students will create a plan for academic, clinical, and post-graduate licensure with the guidance of faculty.

New Mexico is also rather unique when it comes to psychology as well. PhDs in it are allowed to prescribe, don't need to be MD

That's good.  But there's one more element to consider.  As we know, state licensure requirements vary from state to state and so the prospective student should determine if that holds true in the state where they intend to live/practice.  Maybe it's good in New Mexico, or California, or wherever but what's important is whether it's true where you are too.  I like these sorts of programs and enjoy looking through the ones that are a little outside the lines.
