I have looked online but read different things on reddit, people saying WGU gave them a hard time when they tried to apply/kept telling them several different things - like I have heard that if you try to go to their grad programs with a degree made up of alternative credits, that they don't just accept your degree, they evaluate all the credits individually (meaning they wouldn't accept most of them). again this was on reddit so take with a grain of salt

Well, everyone has their own opinion and they can become particularly biased when they don't get in. But the truth is that WGU does have admission standards, but they are not unreasonable. The graduate programs are a bit more strict but ultimately they are looking for students who will complete the program and graduate.

Each degree program has its own requirements, but for the MBA program they are really looking for people who have significant work experience combined with a regionally accredited bachelors degree. If you don't have an undergraduate business degree they may ask for leveling courses, but I'm not 100% sure about that since I came in with a business degree and 30 years of career experience.

For the undergrad degrees, WGU requires "questionable" candidates to complete a course via Straighterline to demonstrate they are capable of completing a competency-based academic program, but that usually applies to people who come in with no college credits, who have previously failed to complete a WGU degree, or otherwise come in with a low GPA; I have also heard that WGU may require students to take a "performance improvement" course in addition to the orientation course before they can start their degree plan.

However, WGU is really good about accepting alternate education credits, up to 90 credits worth, so there is no issue with people coming into WGU who have earned a lot of their credits via ACE recommendations as we do here on this forum. Like TESU they don't accept Shmoop, and they don't accept NCCRS credits, but aside from that they are pretty generous with their transfer policies.
Working on: Debating whether I want to pursue a doctoral program or maybe another master's degree in 2022-23
