Are some BSBA areas of study now being awarded as BS degrees?
#1
In comparing the 2021-2022 catalog versus the 2022-2023 university catalogs, several BSBA areas of study are now listed as being a BS instead of a BSBA:

https://tesu.smartcatalogiq.com/2021-202...nistration

vs

https://tesu.smartcatalogiq.com/Current/...nistration

Accounting/CPA, CIS, Entrepreneurship, etc. are now listed as "BS".

It's largely a pointless distinction, but is TESU now actually awarding these degrees as a BS instead of a BSBA?

These would be misleading names because these are still business administration degrees with concentrations. The BSBA in Accounting is a little different for the BS in Accounting/CPA, but the CPA program still requires more general business credits than accounting credits. The other BS programs only have an 18-credit area of study.

BSBA = Bachelor's of Science in Business Administration

BS = Bachelor's of Science

BS has always been the type of degree - bachelor's of science, bachelor's of arts, etc.

The BA portion is just the major.

Yes, that's my point. The 2022-2023 catalog appears to be indicating that they will now be awarding some of these degrees not as a Business Administration major, but as an Accounting, CIS, etc. major. As sanantone pointed out above, this would be fairly disingenuous.

Those would be concentrations in the major. Some are now their own major. Not a big deal.

A major typically makes up the majority of the major area of study. Curriculum-wise, these are still business administration programs with concentrations.

A BS in Finance sounds a lot better than a BS in Business Administration. Same for Entrepreneurship and the other changes. Sometimes changes are made due to accreditation requests.

They are literally the exact same degrees as they were before. No idea why they're doing this. They all have the 42cr Business core, they all have 18cr in the AoS. No changes that I can see.
