TECEP transfer to CC
#1
How do TECEPs transfer to other institutions? Does it make a difference of your are actually enrolled at TESC or just taking the CBE? The CSU Global controversy with COSC still leaves me a little bit confused. My CC is stingy with CLEP but will almost always accept credit from an RA institution. And I have tested out for credit at this CC for a prerequisite course that I had previously failed at my prior institution. I think I get the resident vs. non-resident thing, but don't know how it might apply to TECEP transfer back to my CC. Of course I will check with my CC advisor, but I would like to know in advance how I might go on to a successful appeal if that should become necessary.

TECEPs are residential credits and look just like other TESU courses on the transcript, except they are pass/fail. Don't ask the school if they'll accept TECEPs. That will only confuse them. Ask them if they'll accept pass/fail credits. If they ask why the course was pass/fail when TESU awards grades, tell them it was a challenge exam because that's what TECEPs essentially are.

It doesn't make a difference if you're enrolled. People take courses for transfer as non-matriculated students all the time.

Thanks Sanantone, I knew you would have the answer. So the key issue is acceptance of Pass/Fail courses from another RA institution. Could my CC's policy vary by institutional source of credit? E.g. a pass/fail from within our state's consortium could be accepted, but not from outside or say a restricted group of outsiders. I can't find the published policy yet; I'm just interested in what anyone may have come across
