TEEX Cyber courses are back with more credits
(06-21-2019, 11:19 AM)Mil0 Wrote: I’ve already taken all of the TEEX courses and had added them as cyber 101, cyber 201, and cyber 301. I took them after the change in credit value so I don’t need to retake them but should I add each course individually to my ACE transcript?

I can’t tell from the comments if that’s what is being suggested or not. I know it won’t remove the old cyber 101 courses etc. just not sure what to do.

My post on this thread I think (not sure the #) showed how TESU brought in each course whether you added it as a complete course vs individual courses.  If you're not at TESU, then I know it's not much help.

I'm at TESU. I looked up your post and to clarify, I had already had it evaluated by TESU and it's on my TESU transcript (still need to have them fix it to give me the correct amount of credits) but I just wasn't sure how that would impact the evaluations if it's duplicated on my ACE transcript and they'd already credited the courses on my TESU evaluation. Either way, I'm going to go back and add them individually to my ACE transcript.

When the TEEX Cybersecurity courses were worth 6 credits (forgive me if that's not exactly accurate), it seems TESU and COSC would accept the Cybersecurity exam offered by DSST as 3 UL credits because they did not duplicate.  Now the TEEX trio (Cyber 101, 201 & 301) are worth 10 (maybe it's 11) credits and one course seems to be a UL credit (AWR-177 Information Risk Management). How does this change impact credit for the Cybersecurity exam?  Is there duplication?  If they duplicate, would TESU & COSC give 2 credits for the exam instead of 3 credits?

The TEEX courses don't duplicate course numbering with the DSST at TESU, no idea at COSC.  But the TEEX courses are all LL, while the DSST is UL, so that's to be expected (that they won't duplicate).

Perfect that they don't duplicate.  Thank you Dfrecore.   Smile

ACE has recommended AWR-177 Information Risk Management as 1 UL credit. I know each Uni decides how they will treat transfer credits.  That's unfortunate if TESU & COSC aren't awarding UL credit for it.

I'm pretty sure that AWR177 does come in as 1 UL credit at TESU.  At least in the emails I had with my advisor he said it does, however, if you couple it as the CYBER 301 (I think its 301) it will all come in as LL.  If you send it individually though it will come in as 1UL.

So, what does TESU officially consider the TEEX courses to count as? There seem to be different answers and and I’m currently finishing up on 101, so I’m just wondering what to factor in. If it IS the either the 1 UL or the 3 LL, is it better to just do the 3 LL approach, or just the one course for the 1 UL?

Can someone chime in on how long these classes typically take to get through?

Thanks!

Cyber 101 took me like 2 days tops.  It’s open book and a substantial portion of the pre-test questions are on the post-test, so it’s pretty simple with knocking out the tests.  The only downside is that they are ungodly boring & tedious.
