TESC "Two Areas of Study" per degree
#11
Quote:Geezer, if I understood correctly, it would also be possible to apply 9 credits from one major's core courses to another major's core courses. In the Nat Sci/CS example, that could mean applying 3 upper level CS courses to the Nat Sci/Math major's core since CS courses are permitted in the Nat Sci/Math core.

This is how I understand it as well. I would check with Todd/TESC Advisor just to be sure.

Can you help me understand this clearly? My daughter is working on a BSBA and BA in Psych from TESC but has not enrolled yet. Is this combination possible?

I'm not an expert on TESC but from what I understand the answer is no. As far as I understand it, she could:
  • double major in the BSBA earning, for example, a BSBA in Accounting and Finance or
  • double major in the BA earning, for example, a BA in Psychology and History or
  • she could finish a single major in either one then re-enroll and finish the other without needing to do a full degree's worth of credits for the second degree.

But she couldn't just double major and get the business administration degree and the psych degree because of what Maniac Craniac said: they are offered by completely different schools. Geezer pointed out an exception but it is truly that, an exception, and not the rule. I called TESC some years back about something close to this and that was basically their reasoning.

Thanks for the clear explanation -- I think we'll move on to PLAN B then:
2-year Business degree from local CC and 4-year Psych degree from TESC.

UNLESS -- there is a reason to minor in Business from TESC. I'm not sure how that works and what the requirements are, but that might be an option as well.
