With a mean of 9 and standard deviation of 3 assuming the curve starts at 3 credits (one course), that means some students will do as high as 18 credits a term using a gauss distribution.

Right, thank you for proving my previous point that this new tuition model is probably bearing in mind that 10+ credits per term is currently being done by many busy professionals with full-time jobs and probably with kids, as well. That's encouraging.

But yes, to your other points and @natshar, it's totally dependent on the person. If one can bang out 5 course of alt credit per month and does fairly well with writing essays/papers, then yes, it's possible that 16 credits in a term is probably doable for them, especially since it is a temporary crunch (3 months)...this change is an advantage for some that can just do it. I hope I can!

I think I'll look into what courses could have more prep done ahead of time, that way when I officially start, I have a nice head start and then 16 creds won't seem so overwhelming.

If you are planning on doing 16 credits are once also make sure you ask you advisor if as long as you have everything else complete would it be approved to do mass comm I and II and comm. theory, and sos-110 all at once with the capstone?

TESU is not doing this out of the goodness of their hearts. They're doing this because they know they can trick people who can't do math. How much was the comprehensive tuition plan? About $9300? That's 258 per credit hour for 36 credits, which is about average. If you were at a more traditional school, you would take 15 credits in fall and spring plus six credits in the summer. Now, students will pay over $547 per credit hour. I'm betting that a lot of TESU's students take a year's worth of courses.

Remember when TESU came up with the per credit tuition plan and allowed TECEPs and portfolio assessments to count toward the residency requirement? I know they weren't expecting so many people from this forum to take so many TECEPs. Once they noticed how much money they were losing, they shut that down quick.

When New Jersey has budget issues, TESU needs to find new revenue sources.

Yes, confirmed. Albeit not recommended by a long shot, but nothing preventing it.

HTH!

interesting. I basically already have a comm degree all done besides the TESU courses (well as soon as I finish the essays for the UL sdc courses. but quizzes and finals done, and LL comm done) but a comm degree wasn't an option because of the cost and courses at TESU.

Still probably won't do it but I guess it's good to know that could still be an option.

Are you going to do all 16 credits at once?
