TESU BSBA with foreign credits

(11-21-2019, 07:06 PM)pgsatx Wrote: Hi everybody,

Checking whether you all have any advice and recommendation on finding an alternate or where to find:
BSBA General Mgmt. under CIV & GLOBAL LDRSHP

-For Diversity Intercultural Literacy I think the easiest for me will be
 a. MAN-372: International Management (cannot find similar course elsewhere)

-For Ethical Leadership
 b. I found two ethics course upon searching The Institutes course. Will any one of the below fulfill the ethics requirement?
 -Ethical Guidelines for CPCU https://www.theinstitutes.org/guide/ethi...ines-cpcus
-Ethical Decision Making in Risk and Insurance https://www.theinstitutes.org/guide/ethi...-insurance
I recall @Allvia mentioned
- Institutes Ethics course to meet your B: Ethical Leadership. Not sure which one.

 c. For Civic Engagement
-GLB-301 Global Issues and Society (cannot find similar offering elsewhere)

- TEEX credits https://teex.org/Pages/Program.aspx?catID=607 (free) can be used to meet the D: Understanding the Physical and Natural World.
I found that one has to complete
-Cyber 101
-Cyber 201
-Cyber 301
Will that cover me for all of D: Understanding the Physical and Natural World?

Thanks in advance
pg

You need MAN-372 International Management for the BSBA-GM Core requirements so it won't be a good fit for Diversity Intercultural Literacy (which is just a gen ed, it's not a business related requirement)

Also you do need MAN-372 International Management for the CORE (or Business in Society), but it doesn't need to be UL so I would recommend Study.com (SDC) Business 120: International Business.  You'll likely be using SDC for at least one other course anyway, as you still need one more UL AOS (and I suggested one for you already)

For these GEN ED requirements look at the TESU link I post prior - use the courses they list as meeting the requirement as 'suggestions of subjects' that meet; they do not have to be a perfect match (and can all be LL) https://www.tesu.edu/academics/courses/2016-and-after

bjcheung77 made some great suggestions - I took a few of those myself.

Hi,

Thanks again for the feedback. I have revised my plan and also input the sources in a separate column so that I could determine which courses I could club together in study/sl etc.

Attaching the file here for you all to take a peek into and see if I lacked anything.
@bjcheung77, I found a better alternate (I think this will be easy for me) within civics in a previous post. GEOG101
@allvia, I moved MAN-372 to Business/Society (initially I was trying to cover that in Diversity Intercultural Literacy not knowing I could use an easier subject there). You mentioned in your post above that I may not have to pull MAN-372 for CORE as it could be fulfilled with Business 120 International Business.

Based on my plan (attached) please correct me if I have chosen an UL unnecessarily. I think I am pretty close with all the input you all have provided.

Thank you

Saylor doesn't offer English Comp II for credit (ACE shows they do for Comp I). CLEP is an option to cover both I & II if CLEP is an option for your location, free through Modern States (MS) - you just need to make sure you take the exam that includes the essay.

Principles of Finance can be completed through SDC as well or CLEP

Introduction to Marketing be completed through SDC as well or CLEP

International Management through SDC as you stated, but no need to do the UL (more work) as the LL Business 120 International Business meets the requirement (and the UL in this course does not help you at all)

For your Group 2 you show SDC Business 301: Change Management as an option - it is not, as it is not available for college credit at this time. You do have other options however than the Bus 309, you just need an UL course in either Marketing or Finance (as those are the two areas you don't have now - you have 2 out of 4, and you need 3 out of 4)

A: GMS Required 9 SH (In progress)
Complete three courses (one course from three of the following four areas)
Accounting
Finance
Management
Marketing

Group 1 (Complete)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
ACC411 Advanced Auditing 5 Complete
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Group 2
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
MAR-441 or MAR-411 Marketing with Digital and Social Media 3 credits Not Started
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Group 3 (Complete)
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
HRM331 Personnel Management 5 Complete
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Going by the above my impression is that I need 3 out of the 4 groups
1. Advanced Auditing covered my accounting with an UL course
2. Business 309 Digital Marketing and Advertising (SD shows it being equivalent to MAR-441 and should cover my marketing with UL course as well, no?)
3. Personnel Management covered my Management requirement with an UL course as well

@allvia, am I incorrect in assuming above? Please help correct my understanding.

Thanks for pointing out English I and English II. CLEP is definitely an option for my location. I may utilize that option. Just thinking about ease of being home at this point.

I think you read Business 301 instead of Marketing 301 (MAR 411 Marketing Research -TESU).

You are correct - either will work (your UL foreign courses came in as 5 each vs 3 so you only need that one last UL in the 3rd area); and I did misread it as Business vs Marketing.

Thank you. Plan updated.

I am so relieved now. Got a well laid plan.
Started Ethics Saturday and finished test on Sunday. Passed
3 credits less to worry now.

@Merlin post on how to search ACE for Ethics-312 was really helpful.

Hi everybody,

There is some to-ing and fro-ing going on with academic counseling which is getting to be frustrating at this point because I request three items to be reviewed and they respond back with one item.
For 3: General Mgmt (18SH: 12SH must be upper level) I requested

-MAN-230 Introduction to Entrepreneurship (Study Business 121)
-MAR-206 E-Marketing (Study Business 202)
-MAN-271 International Business and Management . (Study Business 120)

I received an email confirming that they are all approved and updated on my evaluation but I do not see MAN-271. Instead it is listed as MAN-372
-I feel that I should have them correct it to show on the evaluation prior to attempting it. What do you all suggest.

Need some clarity on the below as well.:
I completed Ethics 312 from The Institutes, Nov 24.
-Email from academic advising indicates that The Institutes course, Insurance Ethics, is not reviewed for credit based on the ACE website.
-Upon checking ACE website, I find that the course is valid till 2022
-ACE shows the course listed as AICP 0121 and shows a credit recommendation of 3 credits.

What does the line "The Institutes course, Insurance Ethics, is not reviewed for credit based on the ACE website." mean? Where do I find this information on ACE?

I simply checked and searched for AICP 0121 course on ACE here http://www2.acenet.edu/credit/?fuseactio...rchResults

Also, it looks like The Institutes has clearly indicated the program to be ACE approved https://www.theinstitutes.org/guide/college

Want to run this with you all before detailing the information to advising dept. Attaching some screen shots.

Thanks.

Just to rule something out: Did you pay ~$5 for your Ethics course, or choose the free one?

You're best off doing one item per email. Advising is famous for answering one question, then "closing" the request immediately. Worse, they are prone to pick the easiest question, misconstruing it if they have to to make it easy to answer.

I find it curious that their answer about the Institutes course misnames it. I wouldn't bother with the stuff from the Institutes website, TESU won't care what they have to say, just that it's listed with ACE. Giving them extra info opens the door to having them say no based on that info without looking at the parts that would cause them to say yes.
