I have taken a couple of Computer Information Systems courses and a couple of Accounting courses through TESU and thought I would mention something that appears to be changing. The Midterm and Final exams seem to include fewer multiple choice questions and more problem sets and essay questions. My recent Cost Accounting midterm only included 35% multiple choice and 65% was essay and problem sets. For those who are used to CLEP and DSST, this could come as a big shock. I breeze through multiple choice exams, but hate essay questions. If you are in a topic like management where you can mostly BS your way through an essay it may be fine, but in Accounting there are concepts that you must know by memory or you will be lost. I am not sure what is going on, but it appears that TESU is trying to improve their reputation by making things harder. I will spend finals week sweating bullets this term just like I did last term. One more class to go and I will hopefully be done with higher education for good.
