TESU Non Western History HELP

That being said, I wonder about http://www.nationalccrs.org/genesis-univ...st-his-470

I can't decipher the fee structure (it looks like $175 enrollment, then $50/credit: https://www.genesisuniversity.education/tuition/), or if they would enroll a person for a class or two, but... yeah, interesting. They have a lot of education credits as well.

You might want to be careful.  There is more than one Genesis University.  Make sure you have the right one.

If you were going to go this route, I would ask TESU if they would accept either Mishnaic Period (HIS 365) or Modern Middle East (HIS 470).  Many of the others clearly have western topics included, and I wouldn't be surprised if that caused them to be excluded.

Once again, I wouldn't personally pursue this path unless TESU approved the plan.

I 100% agree. It's idle speculation more than a recommendation to pursue this route. Any non-standard tests should be preapproved and preplanned by TESU advising unless you're prepared for them to be worthless for the degree plan.

I have a history BA from TESU and I used their Chinese History course to fulfill the requirement, I forget the exact title of it. If they no longer accept that I would be surprised but who knows.

"HIS-261 Introduction to Chinese History and Culture" still counted when I did my degree plan with TESU.  I would guess that the original poster did not have 15 credits of UL.

In my case, the advisor recommended the non-western spot should be filled with a UL course (to meet both requirements); that is why HIS-261 would not have met my needs.

yeah makes sense. I would do anything to avoid African history because it's so political so I would have taken two courses to get out of that in either case

Last week TESU told me that the History of the Soviet Union DSST is no longer accepted for Non-Western requirement. I was told that the following 2 classes are accepted;

African History and Culture (TESU HIS-301)
The Middle East (TESU HIS-310)

Does anyone know where I can get these classes outside of TESU or are there any other classes that will fulfil the Non-Western History requirement at TESU?

As always thank you for your help!  Smile

Try College of DuPage (http://www.cod.edu). They have a couple classes like History and Culture of China, Middle East History from 1500. Not sure if that is what you are looking for, but check it out because they have temporarily lifted their out-of-district price hike and everyone pays the same price for the class right now due to covid (all their classes went online).

My African Literature course for my English degree blamed the British for dropping the Atomic Bomb on Japan because they were supposedly racist against non-whites. The fact that the British didn't drop the A-bomb was apparently not important.

I took a Native American history course for my history degree and the entire course was Native Americans writing essays about white people instead of talking about themselves. I just feel the whole thing is a waste of time. If African History is about Africans in Africa, great. But once you sign up for it you'll find it's just anti-colonial screeds and stuff about apartheid. It would be like if your American History course was nothing but Obama vs the Tea Party.
