TESU Says That The Analyzing & Interpreting Literature CLEP Is Worth 6 Hours Again!
#1
So I got an email a few minutes ago saying that my academic eval had changed. I logged into Student Services to find that I had 3 extra hours "completed" now.

The new note at the bottom said:

Quote:02/01/16 You were previously awarded 3 credits based on the successful
completion of any/all of the follow CLEP examinations between 11/1/15
and 1/27/16: American Literature, English Literature, Analyzing and
Interpreting Literature, Humanities. TESU has completed its own
review of these CLEP examinations and determined each examination is
worth 6 credits. Your degree program has been modified to include
the additional course(s) and credit.

Hooray!

But now the question is whether this affects those who get credit for A&I after 1/27/16?

When did you take it? If you took it a while ago, by all rights the school should honor the ace recommendation and/or school policy that was in effect when you took it, not when you sent them your scores.

technically, they can award anything they want- awarding more than is ACE evaluated is more unusual, but hey, that's great news!

I took mine in 2014 and on my eval they gave me 3, eval completed before 1/27. I don't need the extra 3 credits so maybe that is why they are leaving it as is. Who knows! :leaving:

They don't award 6cr on your eval, they will actually give you an additional course with 3cr. So, you probably have LIT-291 3cr on there, and then they will add in LIT-292 3cr. If you don't need that course, it will go in the "other courses" area at the bottom. So check and see if that's where it went.

If not, then you probably have to ask for them to give you the additional credit (which you won't do because you don't need it).

I know this because I took the Kaplan PLA course, and it's split up as TESU would give credit for it's own PLA courses: PLA-100 1cr and PLA-200 2cr. The 6cr courses all used to be split into 2 courses, with 3cr each.

Yeah, that's close to the way they did it on mine. They put LIT-292 (3 cr) under Information Literacy and then put LIT-291 (3 cr) under Gen Ed electives.
