TESU concentrations w/ alternative credit
#1
Hey guys!

Does anyone have a list of concentrations that are easily fulfilled with alternative credit?

These are the 3 I am most interested in: For anyone else, may be useful to know:
  • Criminal Justice
  • Healthcare Management
  • Health and Wellness
  • Human Resources Management
  • Humanities
  • Labor Studies
  • Natural Sciences/Mathematics
  • Psychology
  • Social Sciences
Thanks!

Danielle

Thanks! Looks like GM is the winner, then...Provided I can get all courses thru alt credits, which I think I can.

Thanks!

‘Change Management’ is a required course for BA-LS GM & HR concentrations. Not sure if that is available as alternative credit. There is a study.com course ‘Leading Organizational Change’, but I don’t know if that can satisfy the ‘Change Management’ requirement. Psychology concentration is perhaps, the easiest to fulfill.

I know that Study.com has a data structures course in development, but it sounds like that one could be as much as a year out. Is there some other provider working on a data structures course with a closer timetable?

For now I usually just suggest that folks take that course at a local CC.

I recently emailed Saylor and they basically said Data Structures wasn't a priority for pursuing accreditation. The course with proctored exam could possibly be used as part of PLA, but TESU couldn't guarantee anything.

Would there even BE a proctored exam available if it isn't recommended for credit?

Yes. Saylor had an agreement with some colleges to award credit for courses that aren't approved by ACE/NCCRS.

Are you referring to the CS-202 ‘Discrete Structures’ course on Saylor? I happened to see it a few days ago, and was wondering why there is a ‘Final Proctored Exam’, and not a Saylor Direct Credit exam. I have even written to Saylor to ask what this means. I see that the course contents are very similar to Discrete Mathematics. If this course is accepted at TESU, will it fulfill the math requirement as well?
