I am looking into taking the DSST Technical Writing here soon and was noticing that there is an optional essay portion. Does anybody know if Thomas Edison would require me to complete the essay? Just want to make sure I don't do the wrong thing! Thanks for the replies!

Awesome! I would definitely prefer to not write an essay if I don't have to!

Hi there, being 2013 now, is the essay required for the DSST Technical Writing course?
Also, does anyone have experience with TESC accepting this course as humanities credits?
Thanks!

It is ENG-201, so it is a humanities course. Most degrees require ENC courses and then this being an ENG course fits into the humanities requirement:
DANTES
As for the essay, I did my degree last year without it but you can always ask the school. I've not heard of any schools that require that essay on this exam but they could always change.
My completed "non-traditional" credits include 27 credits from CLEP, 30 credits from DSST, 6 credits from ALEKS, 19 credits from FEMA courses including PDS, 3 credits from NFA courses, 10 credits from ACE Workplace Training, 3 credits from a TESC TECEP exam, and 3 credits from a TESC PLA course.

I am applied, though not enrolled, but my Academic Eval is done. TESC put Tech. Writing under Humanities, and they accepted it without the essay.
