I'm not sure how the (grad) school would get the grade even from the individual transcripts because the transcripts I've seen from individual institutions (like clep and saylor) just say CR, not the grade. I know a CC would, but do study.com, SL, PF and other UL course places have the number grade on their transcripts?

That's a good point to ask the grad school I'm thinking of attending...I'll direct my questions to them and see what they say.

The general rule of thumb on the forum is if you plan on going to grad school after getting your bachelors degree, you want to start with what you will need to get in where you want and work backwards.

For Example: Target School Requires 30 Traditional Credits with a 3.4GPA. Plan to take 10ish or so Traditional Courses there is no way around that requirement so plan those credits out first then fill in the rest.

Anything that goes on an ACE/NCCRS transcript won't have a grade. So, Saylor, ALEKS, TEEX, Shmoop, CLEP, DSST, SL, Study.com, Davar, etc. Basically, to get a grade, you have to take a real course at a real college. These providers aren't colleges.

TECEP's also don't have grades. TESU is a real college, but does not give grades for TECEP's. UExcel's used to have grades, but I don't know if they still do.

PF courses through the school do have grades, but when you transfer to ACE, there goes the grade. But, since it's NA rather than RA, the school might not accept the course at all.

But isn't a "P" (pass) grade like what is listed on ACE considered a grade? Or do TESU just not list grades from credits that were not earned within their institution? My transcript from Excelsior listed all the grades I earned from other schools, as well as the "P" grades I earned on ACE transcripts. So did my COSC transcript.

TESU does not list grades from other institutions, and pass or fail are generally not seen as grades that can be calculated into a GPA. If you didn't pass a course from another institution, it will not go on your TESU transcript. So, if it is on your transcript, you definitely passed. I don't know if Excelsior and COSC list failed tests and ACE/NCCRS courses. That would have no benefit to the student and could actually be kind of harmful.

Besides, TESU marks how many credits were earned, and "CR" pretty much stands for either pass or that the student earned the institution's required score for awarding credit e.g. schools often have different score requirements for CLEP and DSST. There would be no earned credits for a failed test or course. I think that would be obvious to any admissions office, and I'm pretty sure the transcript key explains what "CR" means.

None of the graduate schools I have applied to would accept grades off of another college's transcript anyway. They all wanted transcripts from the school of origin. When I once sent ACE, CLEP, and DSST transcripts, the school didn't know what to do with them. They told me that I would qualify for undergraduate credits even though I was applying for a graduate program. WGU was the only school that wanted ACE, CLEP, and DSST transcripts, but I was applying to one of their undergraduate programs that would accept those types of credits.

Do you get a grade for completing a II course in a I, II series, to get credit for I? Or is it just a CR mark?
#16
That depends on the university. Sometimes that happens in subjects like math and world languages, but usually not in subjects like English and history.
BA, MA, EdS, MMT, etc.

"P" is not a grade. Same as "CR". Not included in your GPA calculations.

If you take a "II" course in a series, and the school gives you a waiver for the "I", you will not get a grade for it. You will just get a "CR" or something to that effect.

The only way to get an actual grade that a school counts in the GPA calculation is to actually take a CLASS from an accredited school.

UExcel's MAY be an exception, but I'm not sure about that any longer - EC used to grade those and put them on the EC transcript as an actual class taken with a grade, but I'm not certain they do this any longer.

Ahhh. Thank you. It has to be credit for the patent agent exam, in my instance. The exam application and its specialists refuse to answer what constitutes under anything non-graded, so it probably won't work out.

Do you know if CC credits will appear as "CR" ?
