I want to take this at SL or Study.com.
At SL, I see the final is 250 points out of 1000 total. Is it true that the midterm and four exams are open book, and I could fail the final?
I know that open book doesn't mean you can easily find the info, but if that's true, I guess I prefer SL over Study.com for this course.
I haven't done a SL course yet, but I know how Study.com is.

Yes, that's true. You can get a relatively high grade with Straighterline with minimal effort.

I took US History I from them. I liked the textbook (I think the II class is the same textbook? just later chapters). The exam questions weren't always worded in a way that you could easily look up the answer (some SL classes have exam questions that are word for word lifted from the book) but it wasn't too bad and I learned a lot. I enjoyed it; I'll probably take II for a General Education Elective later on.

Oh, I forgot about GPA being a factor. I'm not sure I completely understand it, but it seems like Study.com might be better for me, to avoid the History grade from looking bad on my transcript. I think I can only get a B for 2 other classes there which I'll need to take (Programming and Calc II) and would not want a third B.

Most schools don't offer a letter grade for ACE credits. Some do, but most don't. For TESU (if I recall correctly), a 71% pass is no better or worse than a 90% pass. Admittedly, I'm a WGU man, so I don't know exactly how TESU handles things.

If the credit goes through ACE, there are no grades. If they have a deal with TESU and transfer the credit directly, you are on your own.

I agree with what was mentioned ACE/NCCRS would be the same as having CLEP/DSST sent to TESU, it's just credit/no credit (pass/fail). No letter grades.

So, does TESU *ever* give grades for courses at Study.com? I know they have a long list of direct equivalencies for classes, and I'm wondering if Study.com can send those scores straight to TESU for an actual grade - instead of going through ACE first.

No. Anything transferred to TESU is transferred in as "CR" only.

Anything that is ACE-recommended comes in as CR to TESU. Even SL, which sends transcripts directly to TESU (with grade included I'm guessing) comes in as CR.
